There is a huge following for Southport out of Sefton - you do not appear to understand local people, I take it you are from South of the border,like many of the local councillors? Their ideas are rather like your ideas - well misplaced in Southport.

For example - First there was an enormous sum spent an unnecessarily huge bridge over the comparatively small road over the Marine Lake. Then a lot more money in building the Bliss Hotel and Genting Casino, which attracted much graffiti and gave rise to empty units. More money was spent on Kings gardens to recreate the Victorian character of the Marine Lake. Now it is intended to demolish the empty Genting Casino and build a massive 1960's tower block which reminds one of Council Housing units, and which will dwarf the bridge,the Victorian Buildings and the town itself and will probably remain mostly empty for years.

Very little thought/imagination has gone into this proposal -but £38 million is up for grabs, so who cares what the outcome will be if they can get hold of that money. This town deserves to be led by far wiser people.

its funny watching this how people are getting upset as always the truth hurts £37 million on a theatre you just cant make this up. I hope they dont get lend lease to do the job like they did with the arts centre who makes the decision how the £37 mill is spent???

Right so the local people are all for this Liverpool City style make over are they? In the discussions for Southport Development - none of those modifications were put forward by the local people. They have been introduced by those from outside the town. Local people know what is important in their own area.

Coming from you that post is a bit rich to say the least, when it comes to criticism I would say 99.9% of responses to your posts are criticism of your fantasies, very, very rarely is their any vestige of support for your views, but of course in your mind most of us don’t know the truth.

As far as getting familiar with you, I would not imagine that to be anyone’s ambition, quite the reverse in fact.

I went to Southport beach yesterday. The tide was going out and was just past the pier. The sea was very calm and very warm and I had a paddle in it with my bare feet. It was delightful.
