David Barton has praised the collaboration between BT and Sotuhport College for the improvement works.
A campaigner for the heritage of Southport, Merseyside has commended work undertaken to regenerate a Town Centre residential street following his communication with British Telecom (BT) originating back to 2016.
Vulcan Street has now had a series of regenerative works undertaken to improve the side interconnecting Hawesside Street that have included the installation of brand-new replica style metal railings delineating the boundary with the public highway in addition to a series of subtle structural improvements also.
The road’s namesake and internationally acclaimed- Vulcan Motor and Manufacturing & Trading (later known as Vulcan Motor Engineering) established its premises at Hawesside Street in the early 1900s, whereupon the first Vulcan motor car, a 4hp single-cylinder was built. The company served as a major employer and flagship of commercial enterprise for the town with its continuation of mass produced automobiles and later commercial style vehicles, amongst Trucks, Buses until 1928 when cars were re-badged as Lea-Francis.
David Barton, former Councillor for the Dukes Ward covering the Town Centre and West Birkdale, has decided to highlight the simple yet example-leading regeneration as part of his overarching campaign to attract more investment into the area through grant funding coupled with the private sector.
The community campaigner, whose ultimate focus has been and remains the restoration of Southport believes that continued positive yet constructive style working between various key stakeholders is fundamental to Southport and Sefton’s future and wherever possible will strive to champion this as the best way forward.
Mr Barton says: “I should like to commend both BT and Southport College who have now actioned a series of greatly appreciated improvement works along their dual premises based along Vulcan Street. Having originally contacted BT for their assistance with the metal railings especially, I am pleased that further work has been done to tidy the whole passage leading from Mornington Road up to the highway junction with Hawesside Street itself.”
He says: “It is this subtle, yet supportive level of working combined with actual encouragement that fosters the best of humanity and I hope that others may now heed the excellent example set by Southport College and BT.”
In his case the word is DEGENERATE ....As in having lost the physical, mental, or moral qualities considered normal and desirable; showing evidence of decline.

The repairs were done in 2020.
I think he's stretching it a bit to suggest this work was done in response to him contacting them in 2016 and he's hardly been paying much attention if he's only just noticed half way through 2021.

I wish he'd regenerate into something useful, is this all he has to do wander round looking for weeds. He obviously thinks he has no faults like dressing inappropriately for what he does NOTHING.

Forgive me for asking what may seem a obvious Question, but, is this intended to be a News Item, or, a Spot the Difference Competition. I for one am unable to see any change from the before to the after photographs?. Or am I missing something. Just asking like.
