Who remembers a trip to the Southport model village of yesteryear?
Film recently posted on Ormskirk Bygone Times website:

Said Martyn Haydock: "This very colourful reel of 8mm film was taken by my father in the early 60s.
"It's followed by some shots of planes landing over crowds of onlookers at Southport beach (no risk assessment there!) and a very short view of Church Street, Ormskirk."

My old man designed and landscaped all the gardens at the model village, including building the castle and all the different water features. He later went to do the model village at Great Yarmouth.

Many a happy hour was spent as a child in the 'Land of the Little People'. It was a sad day when it was closed and demolished.

I was always fascinated by the Biscuit Factory, you could buy a packet of Iced Gems in the shop and I always believed that they were made there.
