Delighted pupils and staff of a village school welcomed the chairman of the local town council to officially open their new infant playground last week.
Last summer, Burscough Village Primary secured a community infrastructure grant which was put towards the cost of the new playground area.
And with the help of year 2 pupils, the school worked with Scarisbrick's Eden Play to design and install a new playground area.
During the opening, Town Council chair Brian Kennedy confirmed it supported six different local projects totalling just under £50,000.
He added: “We were delighted to be able support the new playground project which will support the current and future children of the school and the wider community.”
Head Miss Smith commented: “It was important we listened to what the pupils wanted from their new playground, asking Year 2 to be involved in the design to ensure it was right.
“We are thrilled with the end result. The children love the tree house and I have already seen several puppet shows performed on the stage!
“A huge thank you to Burscough Town Council for its support!
"Without it, the school couldn't have funded the project.”
