Owing I suppose to the PM's quirky world-view (i.e. he's the centre around which everything turns), plus the necessities of the pandemic, the government is riding two (or more) horses at once. However, Morgan's personal agenda overlaps with those cabinet ministers who seem intent on the so-called 'culture war ' as a political expedient.
In addition of course, Piers Morgan baths in the limelight which accrues to impious celebrities prepared to diss other celebrities (including politicians insofar as they are celebrated) in the media. |
Whatever the intent or agenda that Morgan had or may have had in asking the question (or has had or may have had in asking previous questions), the fact remains that Nandy knew she couldn't answer the question, and furthermore couldn't have answered it whosoever had asked it of her.

Well, you've already stated your position, whereas the woke position is that the likes of Martina Navrátilová, Germaine Greer, and J.K. Rowling have been misogynistic too.
As an example, in The Washington Post from six years ago:
Feminist Germaine Greer still pummelled for ‘misogynistic views toward transwomen’
Payton Quinn, who identifies as a “Trans Feminist activist,” wrote in The Huffington Post, “If you believe that trans women are women, as you should because they are, then what Germaine Greer is espousing in her campaign against them is misogyny and surely no feminism should include any form of misogyny.” ?

— proving only that the issue is hotly disputed. A “Trans Feminist activist,” saying misogyny does not make it so.
Returning to GB News, its raisons d'être include poking hornets' nests
— true also of The Washington Post, since you've chosen to cite it.
What I wish to know: Is it your view that all the many women who object to trans women being melded into womanhood for practical purposes, such as access to changing rooms, hate women? Especially in view of some 'trans women ' retaining their male genitalia long after declaring themselves women?
Your expression "the woke position" is either a source of confusion, or a deliberate provocation.
Which is it?

The trans people I know call it misogyny. I quoted a Trans Feminist activist who also calls it misogyny. Again, you don't agree.

That's an interesting contention of yours: that the raison d'être of The Washington Post includes poking hornets' nests. As I included a section from it that cited from The Huff Post, then it appears you believe the raison d'être of The Huff Post also includes poking hornets' nests. An intriguing view, there, that GB News, The Washington Post, and The Huff Post all share a need to poke the hornets' nest as a reason for their respective existences.

Indeed, it could be said there's much problematic violence within this thread.

‘GB News was unable to withstand the strong and sustained viewer backlash to Harri’s display of solidarity with the racist abuse suffered by the England football team.’
That's certainly one way to put "our viewers are all rabid racists".

Racist snowflakes.
Seems Neil has deserted the sinking ship. So has Alistair Stewart. I'm betting Simon McCoy will be next.
Those on the hard / far right don't seem to understand that the majority of people in this country don't share their putrid views.
Hence the government frantically trying to restrict voter rights.

I suspect a re-launch of GB News was always on the cards.
It had made a show of including a spectrum of views presented without fear or favour. Attracting known media and political personalities was expedient. But of course there was no shortage of (notably ultra-conservative) televised opinion and it has been presumed that (given the prominence of Andrew Neil and others) the business model was to carve out a niche on the right of the political spectrum. Culling presenters whose views offend 'right wing ' viewers was probably inevitable.

Imagine setting up a news channel for Gammon, and failing for being too amateur and too Gammon (or not Gammon enough for the 3 blokes left watching, who then turned off after someone knelt).
Why bother when Murdoch and Rothmere have already cornered the market?

The biggest mistake Gb news made was declaring partiality.
The BBC went rogue quietly.

Those 3 blokes have jumped ship as well.
