The reckless driver of a car stolen in Southport led officers on a 150mph chase on a busy Lancashire motorway.
Officers working overnight on the M6 on Tuesday spotted the VW Golf R at high speed driving southbound before making chase, during which speeds of up to 150mph were reached.
The car was later found abandoned near Wigan.

Regardless of whether a motorist owns the vehicle, driving cars at that sort of speed endangers us all.......Only sure way to stop motorists carrying on with this sort of anti-social behaviour, is by forcing manufacturers to limit a production cars max speed to the national limit!

There's some great music shops in and around Southport if you would like a new drum to bang.

Stop talking ****.
just about every car on the road can do 120mph and many will get to 140+ doesn't mean you have to.
limiting cars to 70mph doesn't stop you doing 70mph in a 20mph zone does it you muppet.

So by the same token, we should grind the edge off every kitchen knife for sale in case they are used for a stabbing ?

Fair point - I think modern cars are being designed so that drivers have to be concerned about speed. The faster the speed the shorter distance of travel

Something to do with shrinking space-time if you go super fast.....I think Einstein had a handle on it.

A) Doesn't mean you have to obey speed limits either - as is the case here. I'm sure the police would support 70mph limiters for cars...except their own of course!
B) That would require a more sophisticated type of limiter. One that could detect the limit of any road - and apply it.

Already been done... but it's not foolproof and not reliable. Also can be overridden - thankfully.

Limiting cars to a speed limit is inheriantly dangerous, I have accelerated beyond the speed limit to get myself out of danger.
point B - the technology already exists, how do you think self drive cars know how fast they can go, my sat nav changes the limit sign display as soon as I pass one on the roadside.

I used to travel to Rugby 130+ miles so you are saying if I'd floored the accelerator it would only be 70 miles wow I wish I'd known that could have saved a fortune on fuel tyres etc.

What ever it is you’re drinking/snorting/injecting you need to stop now the faster the speed will(in theory)shorten the TIME of a journey, but unless it can change laws of physics, won’t make any difference to the distance!!!
