The rest of us are not keen on catching a double vaccinated version of the virus or having to isolate after mixing with those unprotected who catch the virus.

But were perfectly happy to mix with people who could be carrying who knows what before this arose.

    It's criminally irresponsible.
So what are you suggesting? That we go into either full or partial lockdown each time a new variant is discovered? At some point we have to live with the virus doing just that.
The best advice is that doing so is now is possible and summer will be a better time to start than either autumn or winter.

If not now when - next spring, the spring after or, never?

I'm suggesting don't open nightclubs until the end of September when most young people will have been vaccinated. Instead of creating the perfect conditions for new variants to mutate.

We're only in these recurring lockdowns because we didn't lock down early enough or hard enough the first time round.

Words like horses and stable doors spring to mind.

Vaccine Passports cannot be enforced as there are a large number of people who suffer from several allergies and have been warned against having any vaccinations.

In the UK we are not under a communist dictatorship - everyone is free to CHOOSE whether they want a vaccination or not, or are we adopting China's lead of a credit point system? The UK already has already take some steps towards this - i.e if you have a bad credit rating you cannot get a mortgage, or points on your driving licence and you can be banned from driving.

To enforce these passports would lead to unfair discrimination, and you can expect long delays at the airports due to protests.

If the government are expecting every one to quietly obey as the government directs, then the whole country will fail. For if people are forced to give up free thinking, there will be no-one who would be able to move the country forward, for people will be too 'frightened' to speak out, just as they were under Soviet Russia and in China now.

People will be barred from places without vaccine passports it's inevitable just as they are now barred from entering many countries without jabs.

Protests will be minimal as most see the benefits.

People are free not to go to countries that require jabs and not to enter places that require passports.

The free-thinkers will be free to think about whatever they like and if they like speak out.

I think you're missing the point here. The young are the section of the population who are the most vaccine averse.
If we wait for them to get their act together we will have a problem. It logically follows that a carrot and stick approach is the best way forward.
Even if there is an amount of circumventing the rules, 50% of those who are not vaccinated being so is better than next to none.
Sometimes thinking outside of the box is better than holding the rest of us back.

The day I start "getting it" from your fuddled mind will be a worrying one indicative of serious mental decline.

I am pleased to say I don't "get it".

The Government announcement was not thought out, they have previously announced that there would be no covid passport to enter pubs, theatres etc, they are the group who are and have been least effected by the virus, many have had the virus and will have antibodies, what they should have done was launch an advertising programme specifically aimed at that group instead of the usual knee jerk 'we'll punish you' reaction and making fools of themselves again with another U turn.

Whatever they had was much less deadly and I still washed my hands regularly.

Now I am taking extra precautions to protect others.

We went out last night. Sat outside in a beer garden, taking advantage of the unusually gorgeous weather. Almost everyone who went inside to go to the bar, toilet etc wore a mask. So did the staff. It was great, felt safe, knew that almost everyone was aware that this is far from over.

I will continue to wear a mask indoors in public places, right through winter. As H said, to protect others as much as me. It's the decent thing to do, and perfectly acceptable in far east countries. I was an avid hand washer / sanitiser user before, so nothing's changed there. Maybe slightly more often.

As for passports, I think something should be done. We accept conditions on travel abroad. We accept conditions on driving. We might not like it, but we comply for the greater good. Whether or not the under-30s will is another matter. They seem slow on the uptake. They also make up the majority of hospitalisations right now. Hopefully they'll put 2 and 2 together.

    Really agree.

Keeping the importance of having the jab in the news does work.

Jab clinics previously cancelled due to low uptake reopen if the need is there.
Medical staff do their utmost to fill rota's for the greater good if called on.

only 39,035 had the first jab 20/7 , 32,000 the day before, the ones interviewed on Tv who say that they wished they'd had the jab all seem to be obese 30's. Herd immunity is on the horizon the real problem is school kids.
