I love Southport it’s got a bit of everything, I remember a time when it was reported that the silt levels had ten times the radiation level that it should have and now it’s got blue flag beaches, that’s a bit of a contradiction?? .

Well, that's one mystery solved - I always wondered why my potted shrimps glowed in the dark!

That’s why there’s been an increase of 3800% of food bank usage from 10 years of tory rule.

Conservative government policies seem to be the issue.

Conservative government policies seem to be the issue.
Point me to a Conservative Policy that tells you to buy too much food, that overspending leads to obesity.
Buy less of something better.
Point me to a Conservative Policy that tells you to not exercise.
Tell me where a Conservative Government asks you to smoke.
Or drink too much and subsequently put a strain on our NHS when you do these things.
Tell me where the Conservatives tell you not educate yourself.
Completely ignoring people who do look after themselves and don't seek to blame the "guvvernment" for their own failings is a typical failed left ideology.
The Conservative weakness is not pushing personal responsibility so instead of wasting money in the NHS and benefits on self-inflicted conditions we spend the same if not more on those who are sick through no fault of their own.
Give these genuine people a higher rate of sick pay.
Give people a high quality dental service NHS etc.

Milk and butter can be kept in a hole in the ground, a bucket full of soil, concrete blocks etc., covered with straw.
Go camping for three months - you soon learn that there is more to life than trying to impress friends. Or go on holiday to India - and come back and tell me there is poverty in the UK.
There is no abject poverty in this country. Welfare Benefits are at the highest level they have ever been, wise people can live well of it. Or are you referring to Relative poverty, where there is insufficient money to buy the latest Gucci suits, or wall to wall theatres, etc.,? Relative poverty is the cause of dissatisfaction leading to obesity and depression and which is linked to a lack of understanding the practicalities of life.
I don't think the population was healthiest after the last war.
They look great on the old black and white films figure wise and happy for the camera I am sure having survived WW2.
The winter of 46/47 was long and harsh.
Poor diet left people at a disadvantage if they did get a chronic illness.
Mental health was ignored.
Children had stunted growth and rickets.
The poor thought twice before calling out a medical Dr before the nhs.
Again housing was a terrible infliction left by war damage and post war
shortages.
People need an occupation a purpose some hope a situation putting them in poverty even if it is by their own choice(looking after their children)is temporary.

Your ignorance is astounding. I’ve posted a link from the BMA that shows there is a direct link between poverty and obesity, poor mental health and smoking etc. Perhaps you could read the article this time and then come up with an intelligent argument to counter their findings? I also find it rather amusing that the only people who seem to be incapable of spelling the word government on these forums are the usual tory apologists.
Poverty has seen a huge increase during the past 10 years of tory rule. But you’ll probably just deny this too. https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk...fings/sn07096/

The only link is people who don't look after themselves smoke, drink, eat badly and don't generally have the wit to extricate themselves from this spiral of decline.
I find most of my Labour loving friends understand that they are responsible for themselves, some such as you wish to blame someone else.
I do find it amusing that people who see "guvvernment" think its a spelling mistake
I am very happy to admonish consecutive Conservative administrations for not distributing wealth very fairly.

So you’re saying there is no link between poverty and physical/mental health and the BMA have got it all wrong, and that you’re right?
I asked you if you could provide an intelligent counter argument. Obviously not.

I have, you simply don't like my personal responsibility argument, you like to blame the "guvvernment"
The group of cohorts the BMA identify clearly have the link the BMA identify but fails to address the elephant in the room,
namely, the ones who make poor life choices.
If you choose to overeat, smoke, drink excessively instead of exercise when you can then yes you will suffer mental decline as you waste your low income.
As I said at the outset the Conservative Government are not making nor countenancing these choices, you simply don't want to hear it.

And another thing.....
Society should stop telling children they 'can be anything they want to be'.
it causes complacency inaction and depression.

You’re still misspelling government.
You simply don’t want to hear that under 10 years of tory misrule, there’s been almost a million extra children from working families growing up in poverty. Would you accept this?

I'm not its "guvvernment" if I wanted to put government I would have done without the " " someone will explain.
I completely agree that there are many many poor people but I have given an alternative reason for many of thems plight that you "don't want to hear"
We have definitely allowed wages to fall as the multinationals shipped their cheap labour around the EU and world.
We are already seeing steep rises in wages as shortages of cheap labour surface.
That is great news for many workers in many sectors I hope you will allow your objective head to accept this.
