The collapse of the front line GP service will be the beginning of the end for the NHS. There are no signs of recovery and most people are learning to live in a society without GPs - other than perhaps a word of advice over the telephone. I understand that Southport A&E are, on average, getting between 50 and 70 extra cases each day as a result of a very sparse GP service. Something has to give.

Join the rest of the population across the UK. It has now got so bad that the media are holding surveys about people's experience in obtaining a face to face appointment with their Doctor. It is a similar story with NHS Dentist's too.
I can only assume that it is a cost cutting exercise. It has long been known that a huge number of people are hypochondriacs and take up time and service at Hospitals and Doctors unnecessarily. There are now walk in units at most Chemists to deal with non-emergency ailments. But a large number of people with genuine illness are finding it very difficult, often having to divulge a number of personal details that they do not wish to, to a third party with no medical qualifications, before being granted time with a Doctor. Have fun!

My wife and daughter have both used e-consult at St Marks with reasonable success to at least speak with a doctor even if its not a face to face meeting. In both cases a doctor rang back within 24 hours and my wife was able to arrange a consultants appointment that she needs and the daughter got a prescription arranged. Better than nothing I guess - providing you have a computer !

Had a couple of appointments in the last 2 weeks for my daughter, both telephone and face to face. Rang around 8am both times and have got straight through no problems.
6 failed attempts to get an appointment tells me you need to change GP.

So it's not impossible, you're just not willing to wait.
Welcome to 2021. Like 2020 but with less doctors.

One of their doctors phoned after I told the receptionist my other half was getting very confused he phoned and told me to give her plenty of greens. Straight off the phone and called her Neurologists secretary (she has a form of Parkinsons) and told her what the doctor had said and asked if she could inform the Neurologist. Later that day the Neurologist phoned me and made immediate appointments for a CT scan and a Video consultation after the results were known. It turned out to be Vascular Dementia which sprouts cabbage and any other green will not cure.
