There were big wins this week for Whittakers, the Stanley Club and the Farmers Club but it's Ainsdale Cricket Club who sit at the top of the league after two rounds of matches.
This time around the Ainsdale outfit visited the Railway, home of the Can’t Stop The Train team, and they came away with a 5 (6) – 2 win. They have 13 points at this early stage in the season. In second place, with 12 points, we find the Stanley Club who made the short journey across the village to play the Bridge Badgers. The Stanley obviously didn’t find the away trip too arduous as they came away with a 6 (7) – 1 victory. It was a bad night at the office for the two Bridge Teams with the ‘Dogs’ suffering a 5 (6) – 2 reversal at the hands of the Queen Bee. The ‘Bee’ sit in 3rd with 11 points. In joint 4th with 10 points we find the Queen Inn and the Farmers Club, the ‘Inn’ travelled well to the Scarisbrick home of Shaw Hall Caravan Park, winning by the odd frame while the Farmers had a 6 (7) – 1 frame win over the Pinewoods. Despite the loss the ‘Caravan Park’ find themselves in 6th place with 9 points at this very early part of the season.
After a 6 (7) – 1 defeat last time around for Whittakers they fared much better this time but it wasn’t a very productive journey down the A59 for La Cantina as the Burscough outfit inflicted the same level of defeat on them. All this means Whittakers currently occupy 7th slot with 8 points. In 8th position we find the aforementioned Pinewoods who have 7 points. The other four teams, the Bridge Badgers, Bridge Dogs, Can’t Stop the Train and La Cantina all have 4 points so far. However, it really is very early days there are another 20 rounds of matches to play. Looking at the early pace setters, two Wednesday night matches include teams in the top 4, Ainsdale Cricket Club host the Farmers while the Queen Inn travel to the Stanley Club, but there are plenty of other fixtures for you to go and watch, visit our website for more details Ormskirk and District Pool League. - Home (leaguerepublic.com)
