A) Sympathy goes without saying......As it happens, an elderly female relative of mine suffered a similar fate some years ago. Having crossed a road, she caught her foot stepping up the far kerb and badly bruised her leg/s as she stumbled and fell. She was in considerable pain as a result. I believe it happened because she was in a bit of a hurry (to avoid being run-over?) and therefore didn't judge properly what her feet were doing as she stepped up.
B) Never said she was on an I-phone.
C) No. I believe all road-users, from pedestrians, through cyclists, to drivers, should be properly catered for. This to ensure they all reach their destinations in perfect safety. Relying on people to watch out for each other is a nice idea, but accident history shows that is wishful thinking. Only designed-in infrastructure of high quality can achieve the desired result, by keeping the various modes of transport safely separated.

You never, ever fail to make a comment WITHOUT managing to insinuate that a motorist was at fault. You are a pathetic bigot, full of hatred for anyone who uses the roads, other than a cyclist. GROW UP!!

That's it, I'm done with this site.
This thread has, as as so often happened, has become a slanging match from those who can't see anything apart from being a cyclist and those, who can't help but have a go at cyclists.
This is the second thread on the same story and seems to have been posted by the site managers to generate comments and thus hits, rather than being a local new site.

Don't know about you, but I never hang about when crossing a road on foot. And I'm constantly looking up and down the road as I do so, in case something comes......

I asked three Councillors if Sefton had done a risk assessment before installing the motor cyclist maiming wooden posts on the Coastal Road. They contacted "the relevant department" of the council. The council said no risk assessment undertaken.I suspect the same applies to the cycle lane bollards and the ever more frequent post & tree installations on the grass verges of roads near schools. Still better a dead motor cyclist than a muddy bit of verge.
