Yes. I think the words you meant to use there go along the lines of 'RIP' or 'condolences'.
Not hard to type.

Newspaper reports are not enough for me, the report needs to be substantiated first, and I will know that later this morning - with all due respect, I will hesitate before jumping in the VAT

Let's hope this poor man's death isn't hijacked like Jo Cox's was I just feel for his family.

Well you were quick enough to post a crass, insensitive post about this tragic event at the beginning of the thread.
Your knowledge of how the media reports such incidents, whether in the North, the Midlands or the South is quite threadbare.
You would be wise to keep your thoughts to yourself and thus not come across as someone who has to make pointless comments about incidents or happenings, merely for the sake of doing so.
You are a lone voice in the wilderness many times over.

I take it the news hasn’t reached whatever obscure media you use for information, otherwise puerile rubbish.

Doesn’t stop you from jumping in to threads with your own unsubstantiated offensive rubbish though.
For example:
‘There is one famous black footballer who very wisely said "Let it show you are bothered and it attracts more of the same abuse" His response to abuse was to repeat the same terms against himself, and laugh about it publicly. I applaud his commonsense.
Those who whinge about verbal abuse are the weakest in society, and are seen as such. Let people return to being a human race again, if you cannot stand up for yourself, you can not stand up to anything that life throws at you.’
From yesterday’s Online racial abuse thread.

Another one of Said's nasty habits. Who can forget when (s)he said: 'The so called murder of Jo Cox'?
I was saddened to hear about David Amess. What a terrible death for someone who, from all accounts, was a lovely man. His family must be devastated. Truly shocking.

No matter what political persuasion you have he was a man doing his job
which from all accounts he did very well. And I hope his bereaved family can take some comfort from that.
One thing that does annoy me is the fact that knife crime has been increasing year on year even when Osborne & May decided to cut Police forces to the bone, now they are calling for Police to hold an inquiry into MP's Protection, what about the millions of inhabitants of this Country being protected when an inquiry is held about the safety of 650.

Perhaps because the probability is much higher for MPs than for those in the general population?
I've no idea what percentage of the population have been victims of knife crime. To my (imperfect!) knowledge, only 2 MPs have been murdered, but so many of them have received death threats and similar threats. Surely it's a good thing to be proactive and offer protection to those who are a known target? I don't care what anyone's occupation is, if it makes you a potential victim of harmful crime, your employer owes you a duty of care.

9 MP's have been murdered / assassinated 6 by Irish Nationalists / IRA.
Prime Minister Spencer Perceval was the first and is the only PM to be assassinated to date and the only one within the Houses of Parliament.
3 occurred concerning Constituents Surgeries.
4 involved shootings, 3 stabbings and 3 bombings.

I should have been more specific! I meant from the period when the country became bitterly divided, i.e. leavers vs remainers, and now vax vs non vax. Both issues have pitted the electorate against each other in a way that I've never seen before.

I simply don't see the division I certainly haven't fell out with people who don't want the vaccination.
As to leave and remain the divisions are wildly exaggerated.
Undoubtedly there is a diminishing rump of people who still want to rerun the arguments for both.
The anti- vaxxers are being whittled away by covid and we have left the EU.
How does complaining about either do anyone any good ?
