Did anyone think the worlds leaders are going on the bus ?

They are usually quite busy and have significant security issues.

    The World has gone mad.

Each of those cars emits ten times more carbon than a normal car. Do you all still think Climate Change is for real? If the supposedly most responsible people in the world, can stick two fingers up at pollution etc., what does that mean for all the serfs?

Exactly, not forgetting the custom made wagons, ships and trains required to transport the biomass from Canada to Drax in the UK

When it happens, it will happen so suddenly, those affected will have little chance of escape.....Because, while sealevel will have been gradually rising and been kept in check during the preceding years. The overtopping/breaching of defences, will inevitably happen during an exceptionally severe Westerly storm that coincides with a record Spring tide.

And that's only with a rise of 1 metre, which we could easily see by the end of the century, i.e. within the lifetime of most kids living today. Whilst a further rise of 2 or 3 metres in the following century, will swallow most of the rest of the town and its surroundings.

If all the ice ever melts, and the way we've been going it most probably will, the sea won't stop rising till it's more than 200ft above present level, i.e. halfway up Parbold Hill.

I've found the last couple of days of watching world leaders at COP26 very stressful. T'other half got so alarmed at my apoplexy, he threatened me with a ban on screen time. To save him from watching his wife's meltdown, I retreated to the basement to watch TV.

There's no doubt that some Western countries have reduced emissions in their own country. The UK stands out as being very successful in this regard. However, in countries that import more than they export, consumption of goods hasn't decreased, these goods are simply being produced and imported from elsewhere. This 'elsewhere' may not have the same mix of eco friendly energy as domestic production, which is most certainly the case with goods imported from China, and with several other countries that produce goods for UK consumption. (I say UK as you will relate to it, but it also applies to many other Western countries.)

Leaders take responsibility for direct emissions, but never a mention of offshore emissions made on their behalf. A more accurate measure is the carbon footprint of the goods produced in all jurisdictions for consumption on their home turf.

A WWF report based on 2016 data, revealed that reported UK emissions only accounted for 54% of consumable goods. The balance of 46% was counted in the countries where the goods were produced for UK consumption. You could say it's outside their control, but is it? The WWF cites many initiatives that could be taken to mitigate this situation.

China takes the bulk of the criticism, but there's a couple of problems here.

One: Comparison of whole numbers is ridiculous. Obviously a country with a population of about 1.4 billion is going to have a much higher whole number than a country of 70 million people.

Two: China is a net exporter of goods. As the UK, and many other Western countries have de-industrialised, China has done the exact opposite. This is likely to continue well into the future

Take a look at the image below on a per capita and a production vs consumption basis. When you look at it this way, the UK may be producing less CO2 than China, but it's consuming almost 2.0 t more.

I've not included the generation of electricity by burning wood pellets, and the wild claim that it's carbon neutral, therefore not counted in any country. I don't want another descent into an apoplectic fit!

Not forgetting kiln dried hardwood logs for wood burning stoves - grown, produced and shipped to the UK from Eastern Europe!

Our carbon outsourcing is part of the faux green agenda that seems to overwhelm peoples common-sense judgement.

As you say we have done burning trees to death it ain't green.

It ain't greener to have it made in China.

Part of Chinas huge pollution problem is making things for us.

The ridiculous idea that we can shut down our oil and gas fields and we will be instantly greener is a big fat green lie.

Importing gas and oil is not green.

Believing that we can exist without it is pure fantasy for decades.

Fyi, the logs I have now are free, courtesy of a friendly tree-surgeon I bumped into (not literally!) on a local supermarket car-park a few years ago. Amazingly, the trailerful of leylandi trunks he had behind his 'Landy Rover', were going to the tip! After a short chat, not only did he drop the whole load off at mine instead, he has been doing so ever since.

As a result, not a single tree is being lost to feed my stove, that wouldn't have been chopped down or trimmed anyway.....In landfill, I imagine they would instead decompose and release methane, which is a way more potent greenhouse gas!

The Government, with the help of a fully supportive media, have succeeded in drowning out the voices of all alternative thinkers to the climate change fiasco. One could be forgiven for believing that the whole issue was made up of fact rather than that of fiction built around unlikely possibilities.

Boris says that we must cut our emissions to zero in order to save the planet. Sounds emotive, doesn’t it? Quite honestly, if we reduced them to zero by tomorrow teatime, it wouldn’t make one iota of difference to the future world climate.

The whole con is built around scientific modeling in the same way as the number of covid cases “required” the building of the Nightingale Hospitals (most of which were never used) and the other scientific gem of a few years back that we should all drive diesel cars because they were better for the environment.

A huge number of scientists would argue that whilst climate might be changing, that this is outside the control of man and we should be directing our energies into coping with the changes rather than futile attempts to stop them from happening. These scientists have been silenced and given no opportunity to offer their alternative views by those who dictate our direction of travel.
Of course, it could be that every word that Boris has spoken on the subject is completely accurate and we could all save the world by riding bikes, but in a country that, supposedly, prides itself on freedom of speech, should the alternative views not be publicised in order to give the general public an opportunity to use their intelligence to make up their own minds?
