As for you calling me dumb, that’s really rich coming from you..
Ah so its all about the money to you then? Not about the climate and giving people a choice? We've spent the last 50 years making it easy for drivers to get about. Imagine what our roads would be like if we made it easy to walk and cycle. But no, you'd rather have more pollution, queues etc.

You still haven't provided the evidence of the congestion that cycle lanes will cause. Come on, prove it. I don't see any queues on Queens Rd or Hoghton St, but I do see drivers going through no-entry signs on Queens Rd pretty much every day..... but that's ok is it? Ok to break the law? Think I'll start videoing and reporting them.....

It was an observation. Not accusing you of saying it was ok. I was asking a question related to the topic. But now you’ve just ignored all the questions I’ve asked you and just gone on the defensive. Justbecause you don’t have the answers, you don’t have alternative solutions….in fact you just want to do nothing and carry on regardless. Well that can’t happen. We have to spend money in order to save the planet for future generations - we owe it to them.
Get on the right side of history.

Im not suggesting for a minute that money shouldn’t be spend, what I’m saying is that it shouldn’t be wasted on projects that don’t have a return on investment.
The money wasted on the cycle lanes on Queens Road and Hoghton Street highlights what I am saying, £hundreds of thousands spent, and for what, an occasional cyclist now and then.

Ok. I’ll ask again - what’s your plan.? What do you suggest.? You agree something needs to be done….so…..what.? Enlighten us with your wisdom..

The price of fuel now - £1.50 / litre and not yet at its peek, most drivers are spending the equivalent of decent bike cost every month just pootling around town. Electric cars ARE NOT the answer, neither are random bits of painted cycle lanes. A joined up plan needs to be implemented that allows people to actively get about. These proposals are a development on what’s already been put in place, and are a pre-cursor to further plans. No doubt you and your chums will be campaigning on META to have them refused and ripped out. All futile efforts.

Don’t forget to let us know your ideas. It’ll be interesting to hear.

"A joined up plan needs to be implemented that allows people to actively get about"... in whatever form of transport they choose or can gain access to due to disability or age.

You will never have a "joined up plan" by forcing motor vehicles off the road or out of the areas pedestrians and cyclists use.

Or is your plan relient on banishing the car and everyone just cycles?

It's just bikes, bikes, bikes and more bikes from you and your blinkered friends.

Talk about a one track mind!

No one is trying to force motor vehicles of the roads, all that is wanted is one (1) suitable route into and out of the town centre, that is protected for current cyclists to use, but to also encourage residents who are at the moment too scared to venture out on a bicycle, due to the hostile environment currently on our borough's roads.

Talk about a one track mind yourself, by trying to stop a single cycle lane.
If you have children or grandchildren, ask them if protected cycle lanes to allow carbon free travel is a good or bad idea?

Agree. I really don't know where these anti-cycling types are coming from.....Is it that they fear having their cars taken off them? Is it a 'political' thing, where they fear more cyclists somehow equates to more Labour supporters? Do they fear a cycle-lane will make their Council Tax skyrocket? If so, then they're obviously suffering from some sort of weird cycle-paranoia. Because I have yet to hear one single valid reason to oppose an increase in bike usage.

    What an idiot you are.
Motors will still have 99% of the available tarmac…….cyclists just 1%, and you think that’s forcing you off the road?…. Get real idiot.
It’s not all about bike bike bike, it’s about saving the planet….idiot.
Talk about a one track mind …..IDIOT.
Stop wasting everyone’s time, and delete your account …. Idiot.

    Return on investment?
Public infrastructure tends not to be built on that basis, such as every road you drive on apart from those with tolls. Though making every road a toll road might make drivers reconsider if their journey is really necessary. Good idea.

By return on investment, I was trying to make the point that if money is going to be available, it should be used wisely, and simply building miles of cycle lanes that won’t be much used is a waste of resources. Despite the lies from Sefton Council of more than 100000 cycle journeys on Hoghton Street in six months, we all know that the cycle lanes are getting very little use, and are therefore a complete waste of money.

    It would be used wisely….
Do you know how much a road costs in comparison to a cycle lane.? Do you know how many more people can physically be moved in a cycle compared to a road.? Do you know that cycling is clean and free, it doesn’t pollute.?

It’s not about the money, it’s about the planet. Wake up.

I do not think that 3 miles of protected cycle lanes in the north of the town and 4 miles in the south is a waste of resources, in fact it is quite the opposite.

Are you going to furnish us with your solutions for the future of active travel in Sefton?

Many pavements and footpaths are little used. Are they a waste of money?
