Well what can we say?
After a very long battle with Sefton Council to get a replacement tree, and after being assured our offer to pay towards a substantial tree was ‘unnecessary as you will receive a like for like, and appropriate replacement’ we are heartbroken to see that this is what they have deemed suitable for our amazing village
Having spoken to Cllr. Sonya Kelly, we are trying to take this issue up with the council but for now we ask you all to support us by contacting your local councillors and MP’s to express how disappointed you are.
Whilst it isn’t their choice on what tree we receive, they have the power to ask the right people to explain this awful decision.
Posted on social media there were plenty of comments such as:
Probably cost more to fence it in.. which clearly us not necessary!! Very sad tree indeed!!
It's very honestly shameful what is wrong with Sefton? Residents of Southport and people who own there own Business are doing their level best by showing everyone we are the place to visit what does Sefton do give a fart over for a tree... Sefton you are a disappointment
What's more pleasurable than watching an sapling grow into a mature tree and a beautiful fir to boot? Goodness people the council answered your request what more do you want. Christmas is just round the corner think how generous that tree will look festooned in decorations and light's people it will grow you just have to be patient the Quality of a community is not in the size of its tree's but in what you can do for each other.
What, are they 'taking the p**s'??
This is the best they can do when BCS even offered to make a substantial contribution!!
That tree will 'disappear' due to its portable size you fools!
If it's planted then it will grow and hopefully not end up like the last tree .....
it is a shame the council wouldn't let the civic society put their own larger one there though.... seems daft...
Make sure there isn't a litter bin anywhere near as it would block the view and totally hide the tree
On the plus side, it is a better looking tree than the last one
Stop your winging and club together and fund it yourselves. Plenty of money around birkdale.

They should be transported with a viable rootball still attached, then planted after Crimbo again somewhere.....Has no-one heard about trees soaking-up CO2?

Ignore the dislike. Obviously should have been a like.

It's a living tree. It will grow.
