Qlocal representives and Friends Of Southport attend V.I.P opening event of nostalgic bar, The Old Bank on Lord Street.
The Old Bank once again opened its doors last night, reinstating itself under new ownership, as a fabulous bar in the centre of Lord Street .

We met at the columned entrance where a photographer was taking pictures of the guests and were directed to a welcome table where we we warmly greeted and offered a complimentary drink.
The VIP opening was attended by many well known faces. Guests were served samples of food canopies and home- baked pizzas, which were delicious!
The atmosphere was electric, with live music streaming from the balcony by Sandgrounder radio. The place was quite full yet still didn’t feel crowded due to it being a lovely airy and spacious building with a vey high ceiling.

We spoke to many people, including Instagram blogger QueenZee, mural Artist Robert Newbiggin, Cassie James Mighty Radio presenter, a burlesque dancer and fire eater and a producer of a Southport film. Also we met the artist of the grand queen portrait gracing the wall.

In the bar itself:
There was even a live drama when 2 actors appeared on the mezinine balcony as bank robbers, shouting and approaching guests at the tables.
There was table service for drinks as well as bar service. Guests were given a complimentary discount card for future visits.
All in all a great night and we wish this bar every success.

Southport hasn't had a real celebrity opening since Cardew the Cad opened the Southport Rugby Club new clubroom.

Has there ever been an atmosphere that wasn't "electric"?
