Let There Be Light
I walked down Lord Street today - some while since I have done that in the dark. (Not without someone holding my hand that is )
Shops want to attract more customers do they - well one good way would be to light up the shops more. Only a few shops had brilliant lighting - most premises use these energy saving bulbs which are not energy saving by the way - that give out a dull yellow light that does not reach the front forecourts. Once you have walked past these shops you would be hard pressed to recognise that they are actually open.
I always suspect that restaurants and bars with low lights, serve rubbish food or dirty cutlery/glasses that they are trying to hide. On cold dark nights it is far more cheerful to sit somewhere where it is bright.
Walking down Lord Street on these dark nights is like walking through the grave yard. So shop keepers, do yourselves a favour and brighten up your premises to make them more attractive.
Do you agree?

Begs the question why your carers are allowing you out at night unsupervised?

I've never been in a bar or restaurant that is too dark to see if the glasses or cutlery are clean and i judge the quality of the food on its taste which isn't affected by the lighting levels.
As for the shops, they are closed at night. I've never experienced a shop that is is too dark to see what's on offer.
Perhaps you are due for an eye test or more likely you're just making stuff up again.

Not at all, oh wise one. You want to compare the rural German village shops to our local Southport shops. Bright lights attract footfall and make shops appear to be more cheerful. Dark shops look as if they are about to close.
