Liveable Nwighbourhood
I was trying to fill in the questionnaire from the Council about the changes they want to make.
They call one of the changes ' Proposed Modal filter'. This is a no entry for cars. All the cars that park in the streets that have no pay & display will have to do 3 point turns to get out.
I spent 30 minutes and only got to the second question. Had to give up as I hadn't got the time. I think anyone that completes the questionnaire has stamina!!!
One of the signs is 'proposed seating' could someone tell me where these seats are going as I can't see one of the little pictures anywhere.
They are taking away the parking on the corner of Portland & Lord St so that Gusto restaurant can have outside eating. But There is the narrow road called Lord Street which Gusto's and Viceroy Court is on. Are they blocking that off as well?

I'd imagine three-point turns are not uncommon anyway, depending which end of their street a person wanted to exit from. Having said that, cars seem to get bigger every year, even the humble Mini has grown fatter after it's revamp.
'Chelsea tractors' are another recent development, not really suited to life on narrow streets, where they won't easily fit into smallish front gardens. You have to ask, just what are carmakers up to, selling people on (unnecessarily) ever-bigger product?

You make the same mistake as so many other people with regard to the "humble Mini" - it's a brand name, NOT the size of the various models.

There will be some benches on Aughton Rd (opposite Fernley) and i can see one outside the Baptist Church at the end of Southbank Rd and that is all i can see!

Throughout the day we have 9 carers calling out our house plus district nurses Queenscourt community nurses Sefton medical appliance/equipment services picking up and delivering equipment and these stupid ideas the Politbureau keep dreaming up to get their grubby hands on Government money just to cause maximum inconvenience to the residents. Ambulances/Police/Fire Brigade trying to do U turns to get too the right "portion" of the formerly open road is CERTAINLY going to cause needless loss of life. If people want a haphazard maze to live in there are plenty of cheap houses in Skelmersdale.

No, Mini is a brand name; BMW owns the company, the Mini brand and its own brand name (BMW).
A model is the name given to a version of a Mini, such as the Mini Clubman. Try reading:

I am fed up with this outside eating thing - if people wanted to eat outside there, why not on the green area out of the way? It is not as if the restaurant is crowded out with customers.
Eating outside is so common anyway. When having a meal it is a personal, peaceful, quiet event - not something where people put themselves on show while they masticate like cattle. It is not a pretty sight.
There are so many chairs and tables out on Lord Street/Chapel Street now it is like trying to walk along a furnished empty assembly hall, it is easier walking in the road.

Yes, I bet that is very frustrating. Also for blind people etc., it must make it very difficult. Sign of the times - no-one thinks of others!
