Lulworth Road

I don't know exactly on which area of Lulworth Road this sad incident occurred, but it brings up the whole issue of crossing that road safely.

We often walk to Victoria Park, crossing Lulworth from the entrance to Castle Walk which is opposite to where Westcliffe branches off, by where the former toilet building is.

At this point the road is very wide, and I have often though that anyone who is a slow walker must find the crossing quite scary.

Especially as I have noticed that traffic coming onto Lulworth from the roundabout by Lord Street West , and heading towards Hillside, frequently seems to accelerate as if they are relieved to be free of the stop-starts of Lord Street.

Yes it's very wide at the junction with Westcliffe Rd but you only need to walk a few yards for a narrower crossing point.

Agreed....Absolutely tragic to lose two such lovely old ladies, so close to Christmas too and within just yards of their homes. Had it been my Mum, I'd be inconsolable with grief.

N.B. Have refrained from commenting on the 'official' thread, as anything I say will inevitably be jumped on by the motoring fraternity - calling for an instant ban!

N.N.B. I did however note on the News page, that the driver of vehicle involved had been taken in for questioning - make of that what you will.

It was a bit further up near the bus stop I think. It is a difficult road to cross due to, as has been said, cars speeding up after the roundabout and cars speeding from the opposite direction with cars turning from Upper Aughton Road and Westcliffe Road. I believe that Sustrans has had one good idea - and that is they are planning a crossing somewhere about there.

This is precisely the reaction I predicted, no matter what I was to post, which is the reason why I have kept away from the relevant thread.....Even a simple repeat of what was posted on the News page, has brought the motoring lot down on my back -duh! .

The exact term used in the News article is 'assisting with enquiries'.....I took that to mean he had been escorted the Police station to answer some questions. It certainly doesn't implicate him/her, simply that they were behind the wheel at the time.....Sorry if it was taken differently - no offence intended.

You had absolutely no reason to make any comment, unless it was to express sympathy to the families of the victims.
As for the “no offence intended”, your comment was fully intended to offend.
Like I said in my previous post, you’re a vile, disgusting **** who has highjacked a post in which two people have tragically lost their lives, just so that you can spew out more of your hatred against the motorist.
