Met Office are warning that Storm Barra is due to hit the west coast of the UK overnight tonight, Monday and into Tuesday. Heavy rain and winds gusting up to 70mph are forecast. This follows on the heels of StormA rwen

The effects of the extreme high winds of Storm Arwen are still being dealt with here in the north west as well as in other parts of the country. Some trees damaged before may come down if the winds forecast do arrive.

Extreme weather can cause a high demand for emergency services. Please take weather warnings such as these seriously and take action to keep yourselves safe and reduce risk to others.

  • Wheely bins, trampolines and other garden furniture should be either secured or moved into sheds/garages.
  • Drivers should avoid coastal routes and the Formby Bypass if possible, especially drivers of high sided vehicles.
  • Motorcyclists/cyclists are advised to use alternative transport in high wind conditions, where this is possible.
  • Pedestrians should be aware of the possibility of flying debris at all times.

Please do all you can to keep yourselves safe and consider potential risks to others.
