Has to be on GF bread for me I'm afraid. I really miss the taste of a wholemeal bread doorstop piece of toast with butter

Spreadable butter is a con it’s half oil, Donny you need a slab of butter thick and toast sized buttering one half of the toast at a time ,when I am having crumpets ( toasted crumpets ) I eat with butter in one hand and cut off slabs for every bite that way you get the cold butter with the hot crumpet and it hasn’t got time to melt before you’ve shoved it in your face .

Then you eat a mouth ful of butter!
Hot toast eaten with spreadable straight from the fridge is just right if you eat straightaway.
Sometimes I prefer chill off toast-the crispy thin Danish one.
Spreadable butter will sit on that evenly.
If you are going to put marmalade on hot toast will not see the butter.
I dislike soggy toast if I have baked beans I put them in a bowl on a plate next to toast spread with butter and philedelphia.
Soon the beans on to the toast quarter.

It has to be a good old fashioned brick of butter. Spreadable butter is the devil's work. Just lift it out of the fridge for a while before you need it. It doesn't take too long to soften up...elbow licking good toast and real butter, mmmm.

Buttering is least of our worries....Since buying a new (cheap) toaster, if we're not careful it flings the toast into orbit!

Nowt beats bread toasted over the embers of a fire. Memories of childhood and the trusty toasting fork. Sod the Co2!

Not so straightforward on our stove. Even using a proper toasting-fork, the hand also gets a toasting!
Might give it a go sometime with the stove-door closed, to see if it will toast through the glass of the door.
