And I giggled when I recalled the scene in American Beauty that you’re referring to. Fantastic film.

The Psychology Today article's concluding paragraphs highlight that the study papers' authors themselves acknowledge the limitations of their studies.

Sometimes it may be the case, other times not.

And my main observation is that the go-to 'it must be repression' comment doesn't seem to ever be mentioned in so many other areas in which (other) people present strident comments against something. And that's my observation of a wide-ranging absence more than it's my opinion.

It’s well known that 2 men in a bed in innocent comedy is not gay in any way and the most hardened homophobe or the whitest snowflake amongst you have been laughing at the likes of Morecambe and wise from as far back as they go free in the knowledge it just pure innocent and lighthearted.
