The Scarisbrick Hotel.
I drive down Lord Street most evenings. I’ve noticed the front doors to the hotel have been closed for the past few nights. Anyone know why it’s not open?

Web page says they are still taking bookings. £29 for two people.

It's such a shame, I was in the deserted Barons Bar over new year and said to the 19 year old bar man "It used to be heaving in here, you literally couldn't move, drinks held above your head etc" His reply was "it's just a sh*thole these days. Such a shame

Tony Cafferkey must be spinning in his grave. Whatever you thought about the man, he certainly knew how to run a hotel. Unlike its current owners who just seem intent on running it into the ground.

I couldn't agree more, my missus used to work there. The Brick was the the Hub for everything in the 80's / 90's

Well, I suppose we have had covid but can't argue that the place is so badly run and at £29 that simply isn't enough to provide a decent place.
Difficult to see a way forward.
The decline in the building leaves a very expensive mess just like the other establishments in the chain.

UPDATE:
Sign on door says ‘workmen inside’ with a mobile contact number. All bars and doors along Scarisbrick Ave shut and locked. Very odd.

I wonder if someone from the Health Dept has been along and shut it down?

It was being used to house immigrants / refugees last year, so maybe in need of a bit of a tidy up.
It attracted a bit of attention from the police due to disturbances involving those housed there.

At least that will eradicate some of the wildlife and help disinfecting.

Why is that odd. Seems logical to conclude that it's closed for repairs.
