Would you Believe it
Amidst media reports of hospitals under strain due to the new omicron variant etc., that the coronavirus can be killed off by the common cold and that a new variant is very much like influenza, we now have the Government forecasters saying:
"Covid rules could be ditched in a matter of weeks amidst positive news on the spread of the Omicron strain.
The end of all restrictions would mean the removal of mandatory mask wearing, controversial covid passports and demands for people to work from home.
This could all come to an end in just 10 days - on January 26, The Sunday Express reports."
So if you catch anything similar after those few weeks, it is likely to be influenza.

But you can always remember it exactly if you have to tell it twice .

I don’t really know I had not read it until I saw your post on here, now I have just gone and read it I think there is some suggestion that the contract was awarded because of some sort of high priority?, I don’t know about any of that all I know is a friend of a politician that had a PPE company got given the contract on some backhand deal or other, I can’t remember exactly what it was all about or who but I remember it was as bent as bent can be, I thought that came out ages ago and everyone knew .

But Prof you told us the original strain was like Influenza and could be dealt with by our immune systems make your mind up.
There are an awful lot of people not with us across the world who if they could might disagree with you.
You are of course now aware with your special access to scientific data that unvaccinated people are greatly overrepresented on ICU units.
There is little doubt that the newer Omicron strain is less severe but of course the more of it there is the more chance of another mutation, your special access papers have no doubt kept you up to speed.

I am not the one wearing a mask and jumping out of the way of other people, am I? I also don't need the government pseudo-experts telling me when a plague will suddenly come to an end or change into an illness that disappeared, when this plague came on the scene. Wonder if they can also forecast flying pigs in the sky?

All viruses mutate constantly. Most people now agree with me if you have kept up with the news and by observation. There are huge protests going on all around the affected countries. No - unvaccinated people are NOT over represented in ICU - just go along and see for yourself, don't just believe all the media tells you. It takes little to disprove the media.

Sorry Prof I don't believe most people agree with you.
There aren't huge protests, the numbers are greater for many many other protest groups Single figure percentages of the population.
9 out of 10 vaccinated over 12's undermines your claims.
The unvaccinated are overrepresented in ICU units.
The Intensive Care National Audit and Research Centre (ICNARC*), which has been monitoring activity throughout the pandemic, provides information on admissions to intensive care.3 Its latest report, published on 31 December, showed that the proportion of patients admitted to critical care in December 2021 with confirmed covid-19 who were unvaccinated was 61%. This proportion had previously fallen from 75% in May 2021 to 47% in October 2021—consistent with the decreasing proportion of the general population who were unvaccinated—before rising again in December 2021.

I suppose you could reply by telling me the BMJ is in the pockets of big pharma and ICNARC the same.

This Omiricon variant may be less severe but nobody is talking about the Delta and other variants, they are still around and nobody knows what will happen. Until the world is vaccinated variants will keep popping up and will appear in the UK, we need to be putting needles into arms in Accra and Borneo not Accrington and Bournemouth.

All of them but we need to get ourselves in order first.
We are fantastic contributors to the programme because of the actions of a Conservative government.

I had not imagined irony to be amongst your attributes.
BTW recently I was in conversation with a young man who was extremely confident he didn't need the vaccine "what with having had Covid"..I hadn't realised infection and vaccination were mutually exclusive.
He went on to tell us that the no 10 party was proof that "them at the top" know Covid is a lie. Silly us, sadly he went before I could ask him to explain WHY they would lie and bankrupt the country to do so..
But the cracker was when he went on his rant about the "MSM" "spreading fear". In particular he told us how in the US 200,000 children had suffered myocarditis from the vaccine but of course we hadn't been told ( tho HE had)
So I came back and did some research. Over 8m children vaccinated in the US; 11 reported cases of myocarditis ( inflammation of the heart) all recovered...

2 years down the line, very different circumstances, suppose you infer the latest actions somehow vindicate the unmitigated garbage put out by deniers like you, in the early days of the pandemic.
If your current crop of brain cells are working in conjunction, you know as we all know, that the situation can change very quickly indeed.
Unvaccinated people are over represented in ICU, (go along and see for yourself??????) what colour is the sky on your planet? ordinarily NO-ONE gets to wander into ICU to look around, with covid still very much present, no chance, when it comes to who we believe, you and those like you aren't even on the list
