Seems you've never turned left from Cambridge Road into Hesketh Drive...

It was then that he began his surprise left turn, just as he cleared the traffic-light pole and corner kerb. It was at that moment, alarmed at being cut-up, that I braked to avoid collision.
Note, that as we moved off together at about the same speed, the front part of my bike remained alongside part of his nearside. Under the new rules, he should have allowed me to proceed past, before he turned left. Had there been more bikes following behind me, he should have continued to wait, till the bike lane had cleared - only then making his left turn. He was also at fault by not indicating his intentions (that lane is a combined left/ahead lane), an immediate test fail!
Like the majority on here, I accept that you’re not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but you state in your first sentence that you were ALONGSIDE the car, not BEHIND it. Then in your next sentence you say that the car driver was well placed to see you in his near side mirror. The way that car mirrors work, is that the driver can see what’s BEHIND him, so if as you say, you was alongside him, he wouldn’t have been able to see you.
You really should engage your brain before putting your mouth in to gear.

Funny how the cycling idiot goes to ground when he’s caught out.

Nah mate, just tired of trying to get the simple fact across, that I was to the side of him and overlapping the rear nearside of his car - duh!
To which you'll no doubt reply: 'liar, that's different again to what you said before'.

I don'tknow what positionyou have your mirrors set at, but if a cyclist is behind thefront passenger seat of a car, moving up on the inside - he would blank out the mirror with his body - you telling me that you would not notice?

Yes, almost right in line with Cambridge Road. Too many pedestrians walk straight across without looking to their right when going in the direction of Hesketh Park.
Likely to not be good for their health, other than for the alertness of two or four wheel road users..
