Will Trump be in court this year??
A fascinating prospect.
A whole list of possible indictments now.
Largely being slowed down by Biden's caution about the possible backlash from millions of armed nutters, who will be convinced he was being victimised.
Possibles:
Fraud cases relating to his properties, trying to minimise their value for tax purposes, while inflating them for borrowing. And collusion in unreported payments in his organisation.
Prosecution in Georgia for his efforts to persuade, then threaten, state officials to "find" 11,000 votes.
Accepting payments from foreign governments.
Obstruction of the Mueller investigation including collusion in perjury
Provocation of the January 6 overthrow attempt
etc
And now the staggeringly naive efforts uncovered that 57 GOP people in 7 Biden-won states sent fake election results to the electoral college...their letters all written much the same because some numbskull wrote them for them.

The evidence is certainly piling up, Mr or Mrs ordinary citizen would probably already be in jail, what is certain that when this thing goes to any court, prosecutors will want to make sure that all Trump's distraction and delaying tactics are shut off, this is slowly happening through the courts and for sure everyone will be very wary of the devoted Trumpublican's, the majority of whom still believe the lying scum bag and not averse to using violence.
I do keep up with the assorted US TV news and media outlets, the partisanship is quite staggering, all those who criticise the BBC should be very thankful that we do still have an independent broadcaster, how long that will last if Tories get their way is debatable.
We do have a Trump apologist on the forum, wonder if there will be a response?

Looking forward to the response too.
However they do seem quite busy at the moment defending the antics of certain members of the tory party as they tear themselves to shreds.

I doubt if he ever would appear in any court - if he did, it would be a complete farce.

That doesn't mean he shouldn't.
Anywhere Trump appears he is farcical.

He has already lost a lot of cases where he has been attempting to hide documents, his claims for executive privilege bit the dust good style.
The problems will be there are a good number of Trump appointed judges in the system, some are politics first, justice second and quite blatant with it.

Why is anyone interested in the very ex President of the US?
He was yet another strange choice for the country, topped only by the present incumbent who is clearly unwell and should be left alone.

I'm Not a great fan of Biden but (almost) anyone would have been an improvement on Trump's time.
Why not leave him alone? Because he did harm, attacked democracy, enriched himself in office...you name it. Shouldn't there be consequences?
And if you listen to him we could be in for another awful four years.

local refers to President Biden as being "…clearly unwell and should be left alone" — not former Pres. Trump — though of course if either deserves to be regarded as somehow deficient …!

Should former President Trump be investigated for his many misdemeanours and alleged crimes? Emphatically, he should. His malign influence continues; the danger to US democracy is on-going!
Having said that, New York's Columbia University academic Musa al-Gharbi asserts that so-called liberal commentators systematically overstate or misrepresent the true attitudes of the bulk of former Pres. Trump's support base. He believes that their responses to survey questions about 'the big lie ' are not an accurate reflection of their perceptions. al-Gharbi believes they mislead surveyors as an act of solidarity with their in-group.

So they say they believe it but may not really, just to keep onside with their neighbours.
I can believe that but there are millions of them.
It's like watching the poor confused lady down the road robbed by a confidence trickster. Not only was he not convicted but he is looking for a chance to come back and do it again.

Read it again, I said Biden should be left alone he isn't well.
Trump will go through the system yet again if it pleases the Democrats but most intelligent independents know that it's more about neutering him than law breaking.
The armed insurrection claim by Pelosi is pure hogwash.
Just imagine if those gun toting crackpots had actually organised anything there would be hundreds dead.
Some fool in a bearskin doesn't mean anything it's America there are thousands and thousands of them armed beyond some armies ready and waiting.
One Biden or both face legal action, senior isn't up to it

Last time I looked there were eight possible legal offences committed by Trump.
Biden and Garland are imposing a very high bar on prosecuting them because they know it will immediately provoke claims of a "witch hunt"
Fraud
Abuse of office
Obstruction
Tax evasion
being amongst them.

Admittedly - Musa al-Gharbi is just one academic sociologist with a blog.
- The USA is comprised of a large and diverse electorate.
However academic, media or other voices err, if they suppose one side's supporters are unsophisticated or, too sophisticated by half because they reject their opponents' point of view.
Ostensibly supporting 'the big lie ' appears on the face of it to be incontrovertible evidence of, at the very least gullibility. But peoples' behaviour is complex. There are genuinely polarizing issues at stake. It is grievously unwise, if we cut ourselves off from our political opponents in this fashion.

Local wanted examples of where Trump may have broken the law.
in 2020 in Michigan a collection of armed people descended on the Capitol with the intention of disrupting business and, as it turned out, kidnapping the state governor. It transpired that some of them had a plan to go further and kill her. Trump publicly encouraged them. The supposed primary guardian of law and order and democracy, and the constitution...aiding and abetting actions which have now led several people to jail terms.
In late 2010 when he didn't like the election results he twice, on record, put pressure on the Georgia Secretary of State, a Republican, to fabricate 11,000 votes in his favour. A Georgia grand jury will decided whether he should be charged with breaching Georgia election laws and the DOJ is considering acting on the federal offence.
Just a couple there..

Have recently watched a documentary series titled the making of a Nazi, the first programme charted Hitler's rise to power, the tactics and methods used, the early part is chillingly similar to the tactics being brought in by Trump and the Trump inspired Republicans, the big rallies, fiddling voting rights, putting Trumpublican officials in charge of elections, with the power to amend results they feel are "suspect", which will clearly mean any result which they don't win, yes the big conman, fraudster, crook is a danger to any semblance of democracy, wouldn't matter too much if this was a small country, but the USA is a major power.
