They won't ask the Locals
The Local Council always impose their unimaginative and outdated ideas on our town. The local electorate keep complaining that the Council will not take any notice of what the local people want from the town - which is the main reason why most people want to come out of Sefton.
So what exactly do people want to see done in Southport? What would you have spent £30 million on?
If ideas were introduced that would bring even more investment into the region - what can you see as the way forward for the town?
For a start - I would like to see more green spaces in town!

Where?
If they were provided by grant money how would you pay for upkeep, maintenance and repairs?

Green spaces? Yeah that'll attract visitors from far and wide in a country that is predominantly green space.
Everyone had the opportunity to take part in the consultation about what the Town Deal funding would be spent on. Replacement of the theatre was the most popular option.
And if local people are paramount why do you pretend to be Marvin from Congleton on Facebook?

Well, that would explain the disastrous attempts to show that s/he has "a brain the size of a planet" on the Standard Model thread.
Mmm - Marvingate....

Your complete lack of objectivity marks you out as at best a poor but likely failed student of the sciences.
Your Standard Model thread/blog is out of place and a pointless self-aggrandisement effort.

Fair point! But it must be remembered that all UK Councils have had the same cutbacks - it is just that some councils can manage money better than others.
Bring in more competitions, more entertainment, bring back the Carnival - each of these to raise money.
Where? Next to Iceland Store - pull down that eyesore of a building, install a boutique snack shop and a green space there. Chapel Street - big investment - but demolish all the shops alongside the Station entrance to bring in more light and sunshine to the shopping area, set the station back to the junction, turn the car park into a chic shopping area with greenery and fountains and extend Tulketh Street to London Street.
Lord Street has several green areas but now has less footfall on the shopping side due to the number of pavement obstacles.

What? I am not allowed to commute between family homes? Who says I am pretending? That happens to be my real name on facebook. Do you really believe that all the local people who attended that consultation voted for a Conference Centre?? In favour of an Art Deco theatre complex that has hosted many famous stars? Did you also hear about that chocolate house in the Pinewoods built with Licorice and Candy? Sefton Council - get this - paid a LONDON Company, IPW - to make a report on the viability of developing the Theatre. I take it the report was not favourable for they decided that a Conference Centre complex would make a better investment. Considering that such centres WORLDWIDE are losing money bigtime because they are outdated, it was a brilliant idea - not!
Most people at that consultation voted for an investment into the Theatre with existing buildings. There was nothing on the questionaire about the building being demolished and nothing mentioned a Conference Centre. There were only five options given on that questionaire!

Have sympathy - to be expected, I guess.
Neurodivergence. Noun: Cognitive functioning which is not considered "typical". For example, autistic, dyslexic, and dyspraxic people.

Bringing back events such as the carnival would be for the BID.
Moving the station back away from the Town Centre would be counter productive it would be better to move it closer. Shoppers want to hop off the bus, tram, car or train and walk straight into their destination not walk a 100 yards.
Pulling down the former Rosebery store wouldn't create a very attractive green space the rear of the Market St buildings would not provide a good vista.
