Council Elections on Thursday 6th May 2022 cover all seven wards in Southport. Each ward has three councillors but only one will be elected tomorrow for a term of four years.
We looked at all seven wards from 2018 to see which party was elected, their percentage of the vote and the percentage of the electorate who actually voted.
2018 was before Covid and the cost of living current crisis so will there be more people voting in 2022?
We will be updating this after the 2022 results are fully known.

Hardly seems worth the bother really. If every single person in Southport were to vote Tory, come tomorrow, we’d be in exactly the same position we are today, dominated by Labour controlling Sefton Council, that doesn’t give an iota for Southport or its residents. Unfortunately, that’s the sad reality of living in the Sefton borough.

Surely 2021 results would be more relevant than 2018

Recent local elections indicate more people in Southport would prefer a Labour council to a Tory one.

We’ve already got one, unfortunately, and the figures above would suggest otherwise.

Like I said, the 2021 election would be more relevant than 2018 but regardless, there are currently 8 Lib Dem, 7 Labour and 6 Conservative councillors representing the town so its3 safe to say the majority of the town do not want a Conservative council and more people clearly prefer Labour to Conservative when it comes to local issues.
