Though not as boring for the activists, these results with ALL parties in Southport holding their seats will seem to electors in the end as just plain dull.
I cannot actually remember when this last happened at council elections in Southport.
The world the following day is much the same for everyone except the exhausted and excitable politicians.
All three parties, we discover, currently have significant support amongst the Southport public, but the balance of that in the constituency will change again radically when we hear the final boundary proposals later this year.
What we had on May 5th was a score draw without any evidence of a game changer.
Boris survives, the council administration stays the same and the tide still goes in and out on the beach.

Interesting footnote: The Greens pick up a further 60 seats nationwide.
This represents a 100% increase in support for green policies......watch this space! ;-))

How’s it a score draw for the libs? Nationally they made surprising gains (measured by number of seats) so to not make a single gain locally surely it’s a Southport/Sefton Lib Dem loss relative to the rest of the country after a fall back in the last election.
However can understand why local libs would want to gloss over that as they’ve clearly not inspired the local electorate enough to make a change.
