Absolutely right - Bunter lied to Sky News telling the interviewer that the Withdrawal Agreement meant no checks on goods from mainland UK to NI. He said everyone else was wrong and he was right. He lied, again.

He lied because if the truth had been admitted, that there was effectively a border in the sea between NI and mainland UK, he may not have got the vote through. He, and Theresa May had both said that no Tory leader would ever agree to such a border. He lied, again.

But then again - people never stop to evaluate such speeches until many years later, do they? If you put two and two together at the time after having read the agreement - it was obvious that the agreement was open to changes being made at a later date.

What effect will the UK unlawfully altering the NIP have?

Will it constitute a breach of the whole Brexit negotiation?

If so, does that lead to the hardest Brexit?

As far as I can see, the only way out of this is a permanent border in the Irish Sea, with N.I. goods (and all goods going through NI) conforming to EU regulations - whether the DUP like it or not.

Anything else breaches the Good Friday Agreement. The EU has a right to protect its borders, whether we like it or not. Putting a hard border on the island breaches the GFA. Breaking promises to the DUP is a whole lot safer than breaking the GFA.

So, sea border it has to be. Unless the EU gives us particularly favourable T&Cs. Which every other third country will demand afterwards. So that won't happen.
