Is it Salman Rushdie time again?
It seems that there is immense anger among Muslim countries against two Indian BJP ruling party spokespeople both of whom made disparaging comments about the prophet of Islam.
Both have been suspended by the BJP and Muslim countries such as Kuwait are demanding apologies from India and some Arab Gulf supermarkets are reportedly removing Indian products from the shelves.
One of the comments by a lady called Nupur Sharma was supposedly about the prophet's marriage to a child.
The story is here:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.scr...-is-irrelevant
The possible backwash of this appears to be so dangerous that major news sites are not repeating Nupur's comments.

Sodding religion again.
It's all toxic. It's all about control.
The Pope sits on a gold throne while millions of Catholics are in poverty. The head of the CoE is worth billions while children starve in this country.
And don't get me started on Islam.
There's a reference in that article to a female social worker being gang raped for stopping the marriage of a baby girl. A baby, for God's sake. I've no doubt a similar fate awaits Sharma.
Nobody actually bothers following 'their' religion to the letter, though I suppose if we all followed the 10 Commandments the world might be a better place. More likely they pick and choose the bits that suit. Anyone eating shellfish or mixing materials your clothes are made of? You'll be going to Hell, then?
Bullcrap and control. Ban religion, promote education.

I share the disdain for just about all religions.
Usually stacked with grumpy old men being awful to women.

Religion fell out of favour at the same time that superstition failed to apply anymore. But there are a great many people who need a religion to support them, they are unable to accept a violent, turbulent world. But if EVERYONE followed the ten commandments, eleven for Catholics, ten for all other religions - then yes, there would be more peace in the World. The greatest sin in modern times is that of greed, if leaders did not desire money and power - there would be no need for war. If people did not continuously demand pay rises - goods would be less costly. If everyone was content with what they have, and did not covet other people's goods - people would be happier. If people did not try to exaggerate their position in life, and were more honest and transparent - life would be lighter and more fun. Keep the ten commandments, and live by them. That is not a religion, it is a way of life.

The 10 commandments are universal in all religions?
I’m an atheist through and through, but find this statement rather odd to say the least.
Do away with religion and if everyone followed a humanist approach to life, the world would be a much happier place.
Humanism.
a rationalist outlook or system of thought attaching prime importance to human rather than divine or supernatural matters.

I don't know about atheism but I am certainly agnostic. In other words I too am a non believer but, am prepared to be proved wrong. Having said that, during well over 80 years on this planet, I have neither seen nor heard anything that remotely suggests that that will ever happen.
Just be yourself, no one else is better qualified!!

On June 8, the terrorist network al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) ...called for revenge, warning they will "find refuge neither in their homes nor in their fortified army cantonments."
