Dukes Ward Councillors, Mike Prendergast and Sir Ron Watson, have expressed their disappointment that following the rejection by the Planning Committee for a telecommunications mast, which particularly affects residents of Lulworth Lodge and Clairville, has been appealed and both Councillors have contacted the Planning Inspectorate to confirm their opposition on behalf of residents in the area.
Cllr Mike Prendergast said “a great deal of time and effort was spent on bringing to the attention of the Planning Committee in particular what where very genuine and very valid concerns from local residents so the latest move by the company concerned is not welcome as it is bound to reignite anxiety in the area.”
Cllr Sir Ron Watson said “the Planning Committee set out in detail but in a very succinct manner a whole range of objections that they had to the proposals and we had all hoped that that would bring the matter to an end.
The appeal process can be lengthy and whilst the company concerned have a legal right to proceed in this matter it is very unfortunate that they seem determined to antagonise the local population instead of seeking to identify an alternative site in the vicinity which would not cause the same degree of public concern.
I hope the Planning Inspector who has an independent role will confirm the original decision by Sefton Planning and reject the appeal as soon as possible.”

Nimbyism.
I wonder what the “very genuine and very valid concerns from local residents” were?
I bet they’d be the first to complain if they couldn’t get any signal on their mobile phones.
They better get their tinfoil hats out.

Would you be happy with a mast 8 metres from the front of your property, 15 metres high, with a load of cabinets on the pavement blocking sight from a side road?
