Southport Oli Ball based at RAF Woodvale 611 Air Training Corp is preparing for his first solo flight at an amazing age of only 17.
Oli was selected for the RAF Air Cadet Pilot Scholarship , which in turn will see him attend an intensive pilot training course at Tayside Aviation, Scotland’s Premier Flight School.
Ready for a challenge?
As a cadet, you'll have the opportunity to do things that others only dream about. Want real flight experience? No problem. How about heading out on adventurous training and camps, sometimes overseas? Normal for cadets. Competitive sports, drill, shooting, music, abseiling, engineering projects? Our list of activities is long, varied and open to all cadets. Yes, it's a challenge, but that's what life's all about.
What an amazing boy, and we wish him all the best.

Well done Oli .
My eldest son was in 611 squadron at woodvale when he was 15 that’s him in his kit on my goldwing in my profile pic, there’s another blue kit they have and the experience for young cadets is really something else fantastic, he passed out as a first class cadet and enjoyed his time with them immensely. There is a long waiting list to join and there are many squadrons like the one in mosley st but there are advantages for 611 with the base being in an airfield. My second son is 14 soon and I want to try to get him involved if I can only tear him away from his Xbox . Kids eh !.
