Saturday drizzle and a busy Lord street … with the cost of living taking its toll on a lot of families and it was month end, when better to step up to the challenge of a meal and drinks for two with a 20 quid budget! My partner is a tight arse so he was up for it and I was craving some carbs so bring on good old Wetherspoons Sir Henry Segrave, Lord street. Firstly, those beautiful hanging baskets outside are a joy and credit to whoever remembers to water them!
Lunchtime, and the place was heaving with diners and drinkers … it was buzzing and nice to see people enjoying themselves. The meal deals are unbelievable as are the drinks on offer … hence the party atmosphere (without the music licence of course).
We found a sticky! table and ordered our carefully selected choices which we overstepped by 49 pence. Ordering via the Wetherspoon app was easy and quick and payment via Apple Pay I believe.
We had three small plates of various nibbles on a 3 for £12.50 deal pizza, chips, chicken wings plus a bottle of wine 7.99! Total £20.49 Hey it was fine, and the small plates weren’t quite so small but it all tasted good and filled a hole - actually the pizza was delicious! Can’t go too wrong with chips and the chicken wings (there were loads!) had a spicy coating alongside a tasty dip.
Hardly a dining experience but for an impromptu lunch with a budget of 20 quid we couldn’t complain … it is what it is, it is what you expect, cheap and cheerful!
Access is good for those with mobility issues with the bonus of a conveniently located toilet. We didn’t have time to do the long trek to the general ablutions as the parking meter on Lord street was eating into his wallet!

How unimaginative.
Out of all the eateries on Lord Street the ubiquitous Wetherspoons was chosen.

Let's hope none of the motoring customers present, were amongst those 'partying' on the cheap drinks......Despite perhaps remaining just below the maximum legal limit (which is in fact lower in Scotland), it only takes one glass of booze to impair/slow reaction times compared to a 100% sober driver. Which could make the all difference between a hit and a miss, should an unexpected situation crop up during the drive home!

A food review turned into another “all motorists are drunks” thread. He really is poison, and should be banned from the site.

You can lose your driving licence for being over the limit on a bicycle or pushing a pram you know so whoever pushes you home tell them not to drink too much .

And drunk in charge of nothing more than a pair of boots, if behaving 'drunk and disorderly'.

Not that I drink anyway, but I certainly wouldn't hit the road having swilled half a bottle of wine!
(see above pic!)

Yet again your delusional, crass scenarios of events you seem to firmly believe actually take place come to the fore again.
Perhaps if you weren't such a miserable killjoy, you might realise that your fertile imagination will have no bearing on the actual reality.
The vast majority of people are not quite as stupid or foolish as you fondly seem to tout as being part of real life.

What could be more 'crass', than sinking half a bottle of wine, before hitting the road in two tons of cold steel? And then expect vulnerable road-users young and old, to share unprotected roadspace with you?

You really are a complete prat. It's something that you've made up merely on the evidence of a photograph.

And the accompanying text, which further elucidates events - duh!

To be fair it was rather unwise to show 2 glasses of wine and then mention a parking meter.

May I point out that my partner only had one medium glass of wine as he was driving.
