Another Bootle Council cockup.
Our green bin was due to be collected today. Checked this morning and Bootle Council's website said today.
That was 9AM today Bootle Council said our bin was due to be collected today.
Bin went out and hasn't been collected.
Checked at 1PM and the date has changed to next Monday.
They haven't got a clue.
No doubt some public sector shirker finally out out of bed and thought it would be a good idea to rearrange everything.
Then they went back to bed for the rest of the day. Working from home is super.
No great worries, The concrete jungle that is Bootle doesn't need green bins. It's only those posh toffs in Southport who have them. Sod 'em and put their tax up to pay for the Strand refurbishment. They ain't getting their pier fixed - Bootle will get a good deal on the scrap metal.

It is strange how many people still consider Southport to be 'posh'. It lost that identity many years ago when the majority of the monied business people moved out, leaving their large properties to be developed into low cost flats. Now Southport has become rather like a suburb of Liverpool, or Jaywick on Sands in Essex.

There are some remnants of Southports prosperous past around and new wealth is apparent.

Why would you write a post comparing Southport to Jaywick?

You’ve very obviously never been to Jaywick, I have and they are light years apart.
Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

I gather from this you didn't get your green bin collected. And that it will be next week.
How will you recover from this blow? We are all rooting for you.
Oh and
Please tell us how much working from home Sefton staff do.
How many "shirkers" there are.
Would you be prepared to pay ÂŁ50 extra to have your green bin collected as is the case in another authority I am very familiar with?

Of course it would be difficult to do the job of a refuse collector from home but a significant amount of office based staff are vigorously encouraged to work from home.
As for how many shirkers there are - plenty - probably too many to count
When the working from home instruction came through these individuals couldn't believe their luck.
The first work instruction from the Unions to go out went like this - 'when on a Zoom meeting always, I repeat always put your wine in a coffee mug and blow on it as if it's too hot to drink'
