On International women’s day Southport Lib Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidate Erin Harvey attended the International Women's Day celebration at The Grand.
Erin said “It’s remarkable that since the parliamentary seat of Southport was created in 1885, the town has never had a female MP. And more remarkable that I’m the only female prospective candidate.”
“Today I had the pleasure of attending the women’s day event at the Grand and it was great to see so many strong women telling their story and inspiring others. The upcoming election gives Southport the opportunity to elect a female MP for the first time and start a new chapter for greater representation of women’s needs in Southport. I hope I can inspire more women from all parties to run for Parliament in upcoming elections.”

Interesting! Ms. Harvey has given herself one hell of a challenge with the local council. Which ward does she cover in Southport?

Well that particular 'record' is unlikely to change. By the way, just what is the point of raising the gender issue here - if you're good enough then you are the right person for the job.

Nothing to do with the Council, she's not a Councillor nor is she standing for Council.

Wouldn't it be better to make your play based on your politics and work ethic not your sex as though you are expecting some sort of leg up?

I do not think I made myself clear. I meant that she is going to find it hard going trying to convince the Bootle council of anything to do with local residents.

Sorry but just look at your leader he has the voter appeal and the charisma of a bag of rusty nails, but if you do get elected good luck sharing the phone booth with the greens.
