Update on Scarisbrick New Road/Ash Street repairs from Cadent:

Dale Martin, Customer Operations Area Manager at Cadent, said: “We had found a leak on a gas pipe that runs beneath this road junction.

“It’s deep - in places more than three metres – which requires us to bring in extra safety precautions as we work on fixing it.

“A specialist technique called ‘encapsulation’ is in hand for the earliest date when the engineers who can do this are available.

“It will then take a little time for us to test everything and reinstate the road. We hope we can complete this by the end of this week.

“We know the temporary traffic measures are inconvenient, but hope people understand this is necessary to keep everyone safe.

“Thanks for your patience and for bearing with us as we complete this repair."

Traffic is left fuming!

Utility Companies should be made to work 24/7 in order to keep traffic delays to a bare minimum.

They do work 24/7 in other countries,as roadworks are a priority,and the quicker the jobs done,the better for it is for all motorists.

I do NOT own a bike "Mate",and have NOT had one now for over 15yrs,due to osteoarthritis in my knee,and at present I drive straight down Forest Rd into Virginia Street instead to bypass these roadworks...Unlike you peddling all the time everywhere to get from A to B.....And my wife cannot ride a bike either,due to having lymphoma,so have to take her to do her volunteer work during the week..Was just saying that roadwork repairs are done during the day,and all through the night in other countries,to get these jobs done in a THIRD of the time that it takes roadworks to do in the UK.

Then relocating there may have been an option, but for us leaving the EU - duh!

Wish YOU would emigrate somewhere abroad,preferably either Holland,or to Amsterdam,where there are miles of cycling infrastructure for you to use....

Can't be done, mate. Our leaving the EU, limits the average UK'er to a mere three-month visit. When I lived in NL, I did look into acquiring an NL passpoort, but that would have meant giving up my UK citizenship....Because unfortunately, NL doesn't permit its citizens to hold dual nationality.
