Cyclists ignoring red lights have a much great chance of being side swiped than if they stopped at a red light.

So, a cyclist passes a red light and is side-swiped. Maybe next time (if they survive) they'll wait for the green. Meanwhile, a motorist in a hefty two-ton pickup boots-it through after the lights turn red - and T-bones some innocent party at 30mph....Surely even you, can see there's a massive difference to the outcome!

Didn't look 'reckless' to me, mate. They looked around and got through safely, not even causing those couple of cars to brake. Upshot: everyone went home in one piece.

I was waiting at a Zebra Crossing in Southport last week and when bus and car both stopped, I started to cross. I was halfway across when a cyclist went over the crossing behind me, ignoring that the bus and car had stopped. I do think some of these cyclists have got it into their heads that the Highway Code modern rules now allow cyclists carte blanche on the roads. I think the rules should be applied equally - we now have a situation where, pedestrians, blue ticket holders and even disability scooter users, each have priority over another that has the potential for MORE accidents occurring not less. Everyone should follow common sense rules, those who do not - well it's their lives.

They don’t look reckless to you but they look reckless to everyone else and it’s no good quoting shite about cars and weights as we are not talking about cars going through red lights as that’s not only very very rare but once again you dream up irrelevant stuff to sidestep the real truth that we ALL see EVERYTIME we go out.
You scoured this clip for ANY car faults to muddy the water like you always do and as there were no cars going through red lights or parked on the pavement you came up with that shite, you are an embarrassment to this site, real cyclists that use common sense and don’t hate motorists and cause them stress as a hobby and don’t talk shite on every post ( and get called out for it EVERYTIME ) by real posters . .

Of course you do along with the myriads of cars going the wrong way on one way streets, driving with no hands on steering, doing wheelies in a main road, driving ad lib through pedestrians on crossings or pedestrianised areas.

Get real will you, there are good and bad road users at every level, the aim of the vast majority is to avoid the idiots and go about there day.

We all know that your standard reply is that contact with a vehicle is more hazardous than with a push bike, but does it never cross your mind that idiot cyclists can and do cause accidents and are very often a greater disturbance to people on foot.

Agree, there's good and bad in every mode. Not least amongst the peds, who have a nasty habit of stepping unexpectedly into the path of bikes. Not to mention treating bike infra as de-facto pavements e.g. on Marine Way bridge and the seawall bikepath between pier and Pleasureland.

Yes, even the humble bike can kill, as can some maniac on foot if they feel so inclined.
