A school of fish
That is the collective name, a school, for a group of various fish.
So what is the collective name given to a group of:
Owls
Swans
Magpies
Rooks
Crows
Jackdaws
Can you say what each group is called? Anyone who says a 'Flock of Birds' should immediately stand in the corner wearing a pointed hat with 'D' on it.

To start it's a Parliament or Wisdom of owls and a Murder of Crows. A Parliament of Rooks and a Worm of Robins.

Owls - Parliament
Swans - Bevy or wedge when in flight
Magpies - Tiding/tittering
Rooks - Building/parliament
Crows - Murder
Jackdaws - Clattering/train
Look through the A - Z game, I've used collective nouns several times.

'Flock' can refer to lots of things. Birds, sheep, people.
'A flock of birds' is perfectly acceptable English.

Start again - and get your starter right. A collective of fish is commonly known as a shoal. If those fish are seen to be travelling together in an organised form, that is known as a school. There's a very distinct difference.
Life is just like a swimming pool - all the noise comes from the shallow end...
