She has power far above that of an ordinary citizen, she can stand in the House Of Commons and question Ministers directly.
Its unusual in that the damming allegations do not come from the Tories, but her old neighbours.
Its them who are making this issue run.
We are used to Labour sleaze and corruption with dodgy funding from foreign players but before it never gained any traction.
Perhaps its the price of power or at least the scent of it as the weak Tories fade.

The Police are saying the complaint was made by a Tory MP, on the BBC News yesterday they interviewed several neighbours most said 'you always used to see her around', only one a man in his 50s / 60's said anything to the contrary, saying that he was retired so he would know but somehow it didn't add up.
One thing that seems peculiar is that it is a Tory MP who has made the complaint and it is now, after an election when the result has been declared all documents, ballots etc are sealed and stored and can only be accessed by court order.

As I said at the outset Sir Beir I believe purposely left the door open for her to be pursued with his foot in it, any remotely independent person would wonder why the legal expert Starmer the liar made a point of telling the press he hadn't read her report.
Why did she feel the need for this report and who was it for?
No one in the Party is better placed to do it and as leader Starmer should want to be sure he was doing the right thing in backing her.
Politicians lie as we all know now, Boris's casual approach to MP's and civil servant's integrity left him in an invidious position repeatedly.
If he had bothered to investigate thoroughly he would have been in a far better place.
As quite rightly reported by the Commons investigation into him, whilst not finding anything of any consequence against him "he should have known"

I think the so called report was produced for the party management and if it ran to be over half a side of A4 I would be surprised.

I'm sure they wouldn't let her down with such little investigation.
There are a number of issues and each deserves a proper investigation her neighbours from both properties are adamant she isn't being honest.
I am sure Sir Beir the liar could if he was minded assist, leaving her in the lurch like this with his "see no evil, hear no evil" and his case read no evil stance has given this allegations new legs,
It was previously waning.

There is now a statement from the Labour staffer Matt Finnegan given to the police which directly contradicts Angelas claims,
“no doubt in my mind that this was Ms Rayner’s family home” when he visited her at what she says was her husband’s address in 2014.
It's looking somewhat grey for Angela.
That coupled with the neighbours and her brothers position is looking pretty terminal if all true she should be gone this week.
If not it will haunt her and the Labour Party, shame really, the number one liar in British Politics ever will have his way and warts an all I would much prefer Angela.

AR is only going to step down if she has committed 'a criminal offence'.
Crime of hypocrisy not.

Too many have come out against her now, Matts statement to the Police rather than the so called right wing media takes it away from the Tory mud slinging position and makes me think Sir Beir, dare I say it, was right to distance himself politically,
but morally certainly not.
Knowing what we now know she could have stood aside had the investigation paid up (if due) and slid back in with an apology.
Now whatever the Police say she is damaged goods.

It seems that journalist Mr Finnegan has a bit of form, he is a FORMER Labour Party Advisor who was sacked, he has also written a book called Betrayal about a ' Female Northern MP who is a diva', he has also said that on the one time he visited her it was at her husband's address and he had to wait for her to arrive.
The 'Electoral Fraud' case is a none starter as there is a time limit on complaints of one year which can be extended by another year by Magistrates.

The problem is that he has given a statement to the Police.
Making a false report could lead to a fine, a conviction for wasting police time or even a prison sentence for the more serious offence of perverting the course of justice. The offence carries a maximum penalty of six months imprisonment.
Yes he could be chancing it but it's not looking good and does explain the liar Starmers " I haven't read it statement"
And why pay to have a report done anyway and why not publish it with redactions if necessary although I'm not sure what you would redact.
You would just tell your accusers to put up or shut up.
Too many open ends.

His report may well be true, he may have met her at her husband's home and in the interests of flogging a couple of more copies of his book he may well 'believe' that she lived there even though he had to wait for her to arrive.
Who produced the report and who paid for it?

Who produced the report and who paid for it?
Do you mean their home?
Or are we to believe she lived apart from her new husband and with her tenant brother, bit of a stretch that one.
And she came from her home to her husbands home to meet Matt?
Surely Matt would meet her at her home as presumably child care would be an issue?
Getting a bit complicated this ahem "blended family"
Did she go to his house to test her eye sight
Whens her brothers account coming out she could do with it we all could.

This thread demonstrates the desperation to find something, anything, to stop or at least slow the slide to the Tories' defeat.
At most Rayner has cheated on £3000.
There is a very, very long list of the much greater amounts by which the Tories have cheated us and the law in recent years.
Do give it a rest-it's embarrassing to see.

To me, it's the principal of the matter, not the amount of money. If you stick your head above the parapet, and ask others to show their tax returns, don't be surprised when you're found out, and people ask you to do the same.
If she's nothing to hide, then there's no problem. The longer she leaves it, the more people will keep asking until she does.....

It's quite bizarre how people have forgotten Angelas calls to others to reveal their affairs and step down, but shining through the sea of hypocrisy is the purchase of a council house.
Something she wants others not to be able to do.
The amounts are significant and no amount of whataboutery helps, yes many members of her party have taken dodgy money which seems far worse but they ain't the story.
She is forever tainted unfortunately and it further shows her lack of intelligence.
