Reduced Prices

I was in Morrisons this evening just after they had reduced prices on some of the fresh goods.

I did not get much chance to discover what had been reduced, nor to take advantage of the low cost items because they were snatched up by overseas people new to the town.

There are a huge number of local families finding it extremely difficult to cope with the high costs and would love to have the opportunity to get goods at lower prices. I cannot see a way to get round that, but it is unfair.

25% off everything in the Poundland stores in the station and the one near Asda, they are both closing next Wednesday and bigger reductions will follow.

Perhaps the supermarkets should introduce a two-tier pricing structure, with different tickets marked 'Locals Price' and 'Foreigners Price'.

If you can grab a 'yellow sticker' bargain, good luck to you. It's usually stock that's going out of date the next day.

I'm not sure that 'foreigners' have a finger on the yellow sticker pulse, but I'm sure a bit of investigation would lead you to the usual times.

There are entire websites and social media accounts dedicated to the subject.

In partial defence of the OP, I've seen a fair few East Asians in M&S for the daily butty reductions. Again, good luck to them. They'll be thrown away if they aren't bought. Even the staff can't have the food that's been assigned to the bins, despite the fact it's still good on that day. AFAIK.

But 'new to the town'? How can you possibly tell if someone is 'new' here, or lived here for 20 years? And what if they are 'new', locals don't have dibs on anything, whether from a small shop or a huge national chain. When it comes to cash, there's no such animal as 'local money'.

Are they closing? Haven't heard anything, but considering they are usually empty when I've been in / passed by, not entirely surprising.

Shame for the staff, but I can't say I'll miss the stores.

I spoke with one employee yesterday who told me that both shops will close next Wednesday, there is 25% off everything which will increase during the week, there is a staff meeting today but he expected that all staff will be redundant which has happened at most of the stores that have closed recently which app is quite a lot across the country.

So are you saying the British are stupid, and no longer get to the front of the queue when required, Said! If that is the case, they must have changed. In overseas countries where the British once ruled the roost punctuality is referred to as 'British time'.

Behaviour? Do people 'new' to the town behave differently? How?

Vocal? So you detect an accent or a different language. How do you know they weren't born here, or haven't lived here for decades?

Appearance? Ah, skin colour. Because all 'locals' are deathly white.

Still not sure why these overseas new-to-the-towners should step aside and let the born-and-raised-in-Southport poor grab all the yellow stickered products. Maybe the 'local poor' aren't smart or fast enough.

Maybe they just need to stand up for themselves...
