My tip is to stop funding this appalling, cruel so called sport.
63 horses have died since 2000.

Many hundreds of farm animals are killed at the abbatoir every day, in order to put juicy steaks and tasty chops etc, on the nations tables - yet few complain about that.
There's also the economic impact to consider, of such a great event on our doorsteps. Local hoteliers, bars, restaurants etc, all do very well out of the National. Even that multiple-winner Red Rum, brought long-lasting fame to the town......
So that makes it ok does it? You really are a cretin.

The Grand National is 'an institution', mate. So much so, that the eyes of the World will be on Aintree come Saturday. You'll have a real uphill battle, to put an end to it.
Just as with our farm animals, bred for their meat. If there were no demand i.e. no races, breeders wouldn't breed these speed-machines in the first place. Imo it's better to have lived and seen something of the world, than to never have existed at all.

Not a fan of horse racing of any description, but there is a conundrum here without racing these horse wouldn’t exist, they are after all bred purely as race horses. Horses are injured and very often lose their lives due to racing incidents, the alternative, like it or not is no race horses.

Agree...And being five-figure investments, are incredibly well looked after. Leading such pampered lives, where only the best is good enough..I'm sure the owner is as devastated as anyone else, should their horse ever come to grief.

Animals that don’t exist can’t be exploited or abused.

One could argue the same for horses killed and injured on the roads, yet despite the risk few would stop breeding them.....For that matter, many humans are killed on the roads every year, should we stop procreating?

The “brave” jockeys have a choice and are rewarded well for it. The horses don’t get that choice. Exploiting animals for financial greed is awful. Race horses that refuse to race or have their careers cut short because of injury are normally exported abroad for slaughter.
Go and visit an abattoir to see where your juicy steaks and tasty chops come from. I did almost 40 years ago. That was the day I stopped eating meat. If the smell of blood, p1ss and sht doesn’t put you off, the terror in those eyes and the screams from pigs getting gassed will do.

Fine. Stop breeding them. As an ethical vegan I’m against all animal exploitation.

Well, I haven't seen the figures. But pound-to-a-penny, far fewer of peds/cyclists were killed/injured with so few cars on the roads during the big Covid lockdown. And that despite many more folk than usual turning out on foot and bike, for their daily exercise quota!

Please explain what that has to do with asking for tips for a horse race.

I do recognise the sacrifice farm animals make, in order for me to enjoy a decent meal. And when I see a field of happy little lambs frolicking about, I have little choice but to reflect on the fact that they'll all come to a sad end somewhere down the line.
Meantime, at least they get to exist and innocently enjoy life. Tbh, if I could shout across to them and let them in on what the farmer has planned, I probably would - so the poor things could do something about making a break for it!
