Which is most likely why you see peds stood on pavements at junctions, waiting till there's nothing coming before they dare step into the roadway...... Due to fear of being mown down by some uncaring motorist.

Isn't that the way EVERY person crosses the road? Or use a pelican crossing? That's how I would do it. People with any sense don't just step out in front of an oncoming vehicle and expect the driver to do an emergency stop, possibly causing a pile-up behind them.

    You definitely need psychiatric help.

"D If traffic is coming, let it pass. Look all around again and listen. Do not cross until there is a safe gap in the traffic and you are certain that there is plenty of time. Remember, even if traffic is a long way off, it may be approaching very quickly."

I think you need to learn to read and understand what the text is saying!

You really are one stupid idiot. And you are actually dangerous!

The text seems quite clear and sufficient. Perhaps you could reveal the extra understanding which you believe is necessary.

It was directed at PNP as he appears to advocate walking out in front of cars to get them to stop as "pedestrians have right of way" in the new highway code!

If a pedestrian is crossing a side road they have priority over traffic turning onto it, too many ignore that leaving the pedestrian having to jump out of the way. Many crossing at junctions now have to wait until there is no vehicles in sight to cross for fear of being run over, they have had too many near misses.

    Entirely sensible to wait.

I do, having my "rights" chiseled on my headstone and the driver in Jail won't give me much comfort.

There can be many reasons for a driver not seeing you, never mind pig ignorance, why take the risk?

Same could be said for drivers not seeing another car that has right of way, at a junction or roundabout, etc....Nine times out of ten, resulting in a long aggressive blast from the offended parties horn!

Oh dear! You MUST keep up-to date with Highway Code changes! The following change has been in operation for two years!

"At a junction. When you [a pedestrian} are crossing or waiting to cross the road, other traffic should give way" Code 8"

Quite correct. Which is similar but distinct from 'if you have started to cross ...you have priority'.

The ped therefore has a choice. Either to stand and wait, until an enlightened motorist comes along and lets the ped cross. Or to step into the road, gaining the ped priority over motor-traffic.

Regardless of who has right of way when I'm out walking, I wait for a suitable gap in the traffic before crossing, I was brought up in the Tufty Club served me well.

That would work....Myself, I'll have a quick look around as I approach the kerb, to check for enough of a gap to allow me to start crossing. This way, I get to cross sooner and nobody is forced to emergency-brake.

Tunesmith 90 posts IN 21 YEARS mostly supporting the PNP and likely alongside a known PNP fake account carliol ( I car lol ) that is used for PNP support against the many that call his bull out.
All accounts starting threads like this and you lot are still falling for it.
