The dog was obviously a big hit at the auction. Attracting quite strong money!

Possibly a local picture dealer / restorer will acquire it restore it and sell it at retail possibly a gallery or an antiques fair. Or somebody know something that I don't with regard to this work.

advanced i think the reason it did well was because of it's a good subject and large, the face of the dog was extremely well painted, very commercial in my view.

still saying that , i think a few people got abit carried away at that price expecially with all the work needed.

i would say the painting 'fully restored ' in a nice frame would be £700-£900 of a painting.

saying that the resoration would cost no less than £300 adding that to the dealers price paid £450 + commission , and the dealers time.

margin's are too small for me.

but i think king charles spaniels are quite expensive dogs, maybe someone with more money than sense owns one and now this painting also .

It was actually £400 + commission + other costs, for e.g. time & fuel, etc.

My guess would be that a fine art dealer purchased it and has the intention to get it well restored and sold at retail for perhaps £995. Possibly even more.

I agree that it was well painted, it was a quality work. However, the best of a bad bunch and all of that...

but if it went for £360 I would not be surprised.

I would not pay £400 but on the other hand we do not know the reasons why someone else paid £400.

may be they just liked it.
