Careful what you google
Clicking on terrorist propaganda can land you in prison!
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/terrorist-propaganda-website-online-prison-sentence-uk-isis-a8776226.html
A few years ago I easily found an ISIS manual online, including bomb making techniques, how to use the dark web, know if being monitored, and an account of the Je Suis Charlie Paris attack.
I did in response to hearing about how people were radicalised online from hover reports and wanted to see if it was that easy.
In my defence I wrote to No 10 as to how easy it was giving links. No response.
Dont think I will try that again.
***** like that should not be easy to find. Please don’t try

You were probably 'profiled' being ' white, wealthy, middle aged man etc' ( had to say that about the site owner) you were probably discarded straight away, resources are limited.

White, not-wealthy but content, and old, and a twitter profile of anti gov cover ups and anti foreign policies like Syria and Russia - I was worried.

I have either found information on or attempted to find information on these sites several times - if it came down to a defence of my actions, I would probably use the 'no reason to believe' excuse. However, I do feel that my rights are being abused, it would not be difficult to find printed publications of many of the items now denied on the internet.

I don’t see why sites like this cannot be blocked, as well as likes of child porn. If they can monitor then why not block. You can’t log onto FB when in China, the technology is there.

I already know how to make various explosives complete with detonators, thanks. Several times in the past, I requested information on ISIS and Al Quaeda on the internet - just out of curiosity, that is.

Living on a farm in Halsall as a child we could make fertiliser and sugar bombs, a bit like the IRA did on a much larger scale. No one was seriously hurt but it was close at times. Nearly blew my own hand off once.

Of course, even though Google knows more about you than you do, it isn't the be all and end all. There are other search engines that don't want to know what you had for breakfast.
In fact, I saw an article the other day that said that Google is now more of a tracking/information-gathering site than a search engine.

Professional people cannot risk crossing the line with Google curiosity
careers are at risk.

Back to the OP, I've seen the dark web in use. Not for any nefarious reasons, my niece was messing about with it, simply because she could. Conspiracy sites beyond the usual, that sort of thing. Didn't seem a pleasant place to visit. And yes, a lot of information on devices or chemicals that might be used by those that don't have our best interests at heart. Creepy.
As far as regular search engines are concerned, I agree with Lamparilla. Google does more tracking and listening than should be legal. I cannot count the amount of times I've been having conversations, and within hours an advert will appear relevant to our chat. And I mean actually talking, not chatting online. Of course it could be a huge coincidence. Eg talking about going to Lanzarote. Not searching for it online, just talking. Within an hour, one of our FB pages was chock full of ads for Lanzarote. Another time, bizarrely, talking about bulk buying dog food. None of us have a dog, but there were the ads.
I know you can supposedly access any voice recordings that Google has made. I've done it and they are completely random. Not voice searches, just odd times a mic was accessed without permission. Being careful what you search for is one thing. Being careful what you say is ridiculous.

I have not the computer skills to do any exotic searches
and have to rely on Mr Hamble to rid my email of all the lewd
'hot Asian chicks' trying to lead me astray.

You can delete your whole Google history (which I did recently) and they actually send you the data they have collected. Well, it's what they say they've collected
