    Clarification of lockdown policing

The government has finally said that, if a shop is open, they can sell what they like and you can buy what you like:

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-52245937

This follows some ridiculous comments by senior police officers that they would be patrolling supermarket aisles and stopping and searching people's shopping bags for 'non essential' items. The comments have since been withdrawn.

Ridiculous behaviour by a minority of the police.

A 150 page guidance note will soon be published for those without common sense.

I assume you're referring to the police. Most shoppers were using common sense, but a few silly coppers needed it spelling out to them.

Its for all people devoid of common sense, from High Court Judges to bouncy castle party hosts.

Thanks for the link....was reassuring to confirm in it, that duration of exercise isn't limited by law. It would have been easy for some sedentary Whitehall t*t to clamp right down, by assuming anything above say 30 minutes cycling was beyond most folks ability.

I shall enjoy a long ride all the more now, without fear of being pulled by police.

It just proves they have nothing better to do, if they have more time now which should be doubtful due to sickness they should be catching the drug dealers and clearing the streets of the beggars.

They just need a consistent clear policy.

"Stay home this weekend" means do not go out more than the suggested Gov guidelines.
Do not go to 'beauty spots' or tourist areas.

The guidelines are-go out once a day for physical exercise.Do not use your car to get to it.

Keep moving and use social distancing from people not of your household.

Shop as little as possible for essential items.Once you are in the store
you can buy non essential items on sale.

The police have my full support to caution those who need reminding/clarity/censure if breaking the above.

Any verbal or physical abuse whilst carrying out their job should be met with zero tolerance.

Thank heavens for that! I had a terrible job persuading the young lady at the till that I needed a tin of paint for medicinal purposes.

I think that the clothes shop issue is my only gripe with the lock-down, especially as we're entering the time of warmer weather. At this moment in time, and in a fantasy world, I'd love to get out and buy some new threads for summer. The moths have probably eaten last years stuff.

Could the likes of Matalan and Primark not operate the same style as the big shops, one in and one out, and obviously no trying anything on in the store and no returns - so you'd obviously have to be certain about what you were buying. Got to be better than buying clothes on the internet. I really don't like doing that.

No trying them on and no returns? Can't see many going for that and can't see how that's better than buying online.
