He was very convincing. British.

Dr Fowler is from South Africa. Why say he’s British, is this somehow relevant? Britain’s most prolific serial killer was a practicing British doctor.

It seems Dr. Fowler was born in the former Rhodesia.
But does it mean anything to be British? I"d give that a 'yes",having lived overseas for 40 years. It might surprise you, but not all Brits are flag -waving , rude little prats and some of us are well-respected.

I can't remember exactly what the scenario was but a few years ago someone knocked at a front door in the good ol' USofA when there was no answer they walked round the back and were shot and killed by the homeowner. It was quite innocent and if I rightly recall the house owner was exonerated, look at that and a Policeman restraining a powerful drug fuelled thug who happened to die does give some perspective in that asylum of a Country.

Do you really believe that if Floyd had not been restrained, made to lie on his front and had his neck and back knelt on that day he would have died anyway? Would he have died if he had simply been handcuffed and left standing? He had been restrained before by police and didn't die then. The difference here is he was squashed by three fully grown men. Was he drug fuelled? Well he had certainly taken drugs but the video of him in the shop prior to the police arriving shows a man who is quite mellow not to say sluggish. He didn't just happen to die. He was murdered. And yes, it says a lot about America where life is so little valued, especially if you happen to be, in the opinion of the person with power, a thug. Aumad Arbery was shot in the street because some people assumed he was a thief when all he was doing was jogging.Apparently being a thief is also worth the death penalty summarily executed.

He was on the stand for his professional opinion, not for being British, or South African for that matter.

It really depends on how you define a 'professional expert'. Especially in the USA.

It's an interesting point would he have died anyway.
I suppose we will never know 100%.
The incident would certainly have been likely to exacerbate his problems
and some world-weary policeman kneeling on you whilst gazing into nothing is the real story.
This wasn't an officer with much in his eyes one way or the other.
That is the real story, lost in political nonsense and money-grabbing.

Chauvin is going to take the stand. Watch carefully and then write your novel.
Correction. He will not testify. Find another topic. Degsy will edit.

Correction. He will not take the stand. Must be guilty then.

Like us all he would have died anyway, the question is would he have died at that point anyway, the answer almost certainly would be no therefore his life was shortened by Chauvins actions.

He didn't want to incriminate himself which makes me think of stable doors.

After the outlier witness had testified, the prosecution exercised its right to recall a witness, which they did and recalled ( I think) Tobin who poked a big hole in what had been said.
It is revealing how much comment has been made to the effect that Floyd was a criminal, waster etc, implying that Chauvin's actions have rid us of nuisance to society. What this means is that some people seem happy to allow the police to act as judge , jury and executioner.

The 'some people' are mostly but not exclusively white who think - he's black / hispanic so he must be guilty (many blacks also think the same about Hispanics and vice versa, there is no love lost), I don't think they act as Judge, Jury and Executioner just Executioner the first thing they do is finger on the trigger.
