    Hotel on Chapel Street?

The thread about the new branch of Pound Bakery reminded me of a report in January 2017 of a company planning a big development on the site of Marble Place, which I think included the demolition of some of the properties there.

The company was called Humberside Investments Ltd, and although it's still a registered company, they seem to keep a low profile.

Does anyone know what happened to this proposed project? I don't recall seeing anything saying it had been scrapped, but it seems a long time (2 years) since the initial report, so perhaps they were just flying a kite.

The planning decision gave them 3 years to commence development. That was in March 2017 so they've got just over another year in which to begin works.

The former BHS would make an ideal hotel, bars/restaurants/gym/reception on the ground floor, rooms on the floors above. With some redesign the side road could be used for drop off/pick up, consierge parking off site.

Thanks for the information - I didn't realise it was going to take so long.

Can anyone justify another Hotel being built in Southport? The large number that we have at present are rarely if ever, full. There could also be delays due to the uncertainty of the EU funding allocated to the Tourism Sector.

True! But then only some of our money was available to give back - the rest was lost in unwise investment to corrupt nations with no hope of ever gaining any returns and also in the various cases of fraud within the EU.

I don't think there's any uncertainty. We kissed that one bye bye.

Perhaps the government will stump some up with all that extra money we'll have.

The 'Brick and the PoW need wresting out of Britannia's hands and restoring to their former glory before any new hotels are built.
I'm only happy when it rains....
