How many times
How many times since the last war, has the UK been bankrupt or near bankruptcy?
"The national debt increased from £650m in 1914 to £7.4 billion in 1919. During World War II the Government was again forced to borrow heavily in order to finance war with the Axis powers. After the war the debt gradually decreased as a proportion of GDP, but in the 1970s, following a Sterling crisis, the British Government was forced to seek help from the International Monetary Fund (IMF)."
"In the late 1990s and early 2000s the national debt again dropped in relative terms, falling to 29% of GDP by 2002. After that it began to increase, despite sustained economic growth, as the Labour Government led by Tony Blair substantially increased public expenditure."
So when was the next financial crisis after that?

The answer is never.
A sovereign nation that issues its own currency can never go bankrupt.
And why do you appear to be arguing with yourself?

Because no-one else will. Actually you are wrong - the Bank of England had to step in and for the first time ever, the UK was forced to use QE - if it had not been for that, the consequences would have been dire. When was it?

The consequences would not have been bankruptcy.
The correct term would be sovereign default.

The only person I know of, who can argue with themselves and still lose the argument.

Then again, its usually fairly obvious.
Sniping about the BBC is a regular answer to most posts, so I'm guessing the original post was meant to be one of his / her / their alter egos.
Or his / her / their alter egos might just be arguing among themselves.
It is not sniping about the BBC, eggheads - it is merely pointing out that if anything has not been broadcast by the BBC, then you people have no knowledge of it. Obviously.

.
what people are they?
Are you a different type of person. Or are you several different type of people. Do you all not watch the BBC, or do some of you watch it and not tell the others in your head?
