We seem to have gone on a general ‘anti-dog and their germs’ campaign whereas the original was a whinge about the lack of consideration for allergy sufferers.
The solution is of course crystal clear. If you have an allergy or even a fear or dislike of dogs you simply avoid pubs that are dog friendly.
My preference is FOR dog friendly pubs and bars as I always have my dog with me, other than for doctor and hospital visits. This means that our choice is limited as many do not allow dogs. That is fine, I have no problem with that.
The reason i always take her with me is that left alone in the house she gets very upset and neighbours can hear her distressed whining. She prefers to be with me even if it means she goes shopping and I call at some dog friendly café or bar for a coffee.
She just lies down and snoozes. Greyhounds are like that: 40mph couch potatoes!
I do not suffer from allergies but I am coeliac so cannot tolerate gluten. If I go to a dog friendly cafe and there is nothing gluten free on the menu I just have a coffee or politely explain my problem and leave. I don’t start a post on here moaning that every cafe in the country should have gluten free options. I accept that the world does not revolve around me and my problems.
Live and let live, we are a nation of dog lovers, dog haters and people that think that all dogs are germ ridden and full of worms and fleas.
Responsible dog owners have their dogs protected by injections, spot on treatment or tablets! I strongly suspect that it is largely responsible dog owners who take their dogs into bars and pubs too.
I would be far more wary of the germs on one dishevelled and not very clean looking man (usually) propping up the bar than a dozen dogs quietly minding their own business.
I would stake my life on my dog being cleaner and with fewer germs than some of the people I see in town - not just the ‘down and outs’ either!
As for Said’s rant about transmitted diseases from dogs to humans being more prolific than human to human transmissions what about ‘flu - it can be deadly in the elderly. Thankfully smallpox has been eradicated, polio is far less common and vaccines have largely eliminated childhood diseases like measles, chicken pox etc but there is still AIDS, syphilis, gonorrhea and loads of other sexually transmitted diseases. Even cervical cancer is attributed to the human papilloma virus.

Re allergies and warnings - the vociferous few win again !
Whole Earth's new product '3 Nut Butter' contains walnuts, pecans and peanuts But thousands of the £2.50 jars are being recalled from supermarkets like Tesco Jars breach rules which state that there has to be a nut allergy warning in English

I would have thought that the product’s name was a bit of a giveaway!
To quote some unknown person’s comment - you can’t legislate against stupidity.
